|
|
At Daytona last year a change was made where we used the inner arc for the first RH horseshoe turn and used the outer arc as the merge lane for practice. While merging onto the track during practice day, I almost got T-boned by a kart that completely blew that turn. It crossed maybe 5 feet in front of me.
Anyone know if that is the setup to be used this year? Who makes that decision? Would they listen to input? I would prefer going back to the old way and use the outer arc as the turn and merge on the left side as you approach that turn. |

I certainly prefer the old merge. That way you were up to speed in the horseshoe and folks missing the corner have less of a shot at you. _________________ Brian |

I also prefer the original.
I would also prefer to enter turn one without the sun in my eyes. Whats could be the thinking behind having the fastest class race at sunset? thanks, looking forward to the annual reunion! _________________ Bobby Butler......."GO BOY GO" RACING, HOUMA, LOUISIANA

Thumb down, fart noise.
Last year the explanation was fear that the karts would damage the curbs. Has that been the case at Daytona or anywhere else in the past?
Seems like a 350 lb kart would do much less harm than an 1100 lb sportscar, not to mention all those motor homes. |

Ill be back at Daytona when we go back to the original track layout with the outer loop. Until then, have fun racing the short course. _________________ Noah Stark

I dunno, Jeff. Next year, Noah may be running the 'winter tour' out here on the left coast. Sonoma and Laguna Seca are both on his list now.

As I remember it, it was the track management that changed the layout.
Steve, I didn't hear that it was possible damage to the curbs, that's strange indeed.
I've never run the other way, last year was the first, but I didn't like it either. If you get pushed out too far and hit the grassy point, it messes you up bad. I didn't like th turn in either. oh well...
Anyone know if we're going to get numbers before we leave? |
