This isn't the first time someone here has tried to make a comparison to stick and ball sports when there really isn't any comparison to begin with.
Basketball, Football etc. are a completely different reality to kart racing. Namely, those sports are not in any danger of running short of participants that may affect the game as a whole, whereas karting needs every potential racer they can muster, and really can't afford to turn away too many people due to an unpopular ruleset.
On a seperate note, searching around will actually find that Under 6' basketball leagues do exist out there. _________________ C. Skowron

Why don't you do this for masters?
This is what Italian Motors has set up for the IAME Cup
They been running like this for a couple of years.
All IAME stuff! So if the series is getting something from IAME. I'd think they would be ok with this. Maybe drop weight 10 lbs on all 380,385,400.
Other rule would be driver has to pick one of the motors and have to stick with that motor. Meaning can't run X30 here leopard there and dragon at the other track.
So the half pint driver gets his weight and the big guys get a package option that works for them. As the series keeps it all IAME
Masters
Weight 390 lbs Leopard Option
Age 32, Competition Age
Weight 395 lbs X30 Option (Tryton HB27-C)
Age 32, Competition Age
Weight 410 lbs Dragon Option (24mm carb or smaller)
Age 32, Competition Age _________________ John Dixon

Plenty of great info here. Between what's being said here, and what we're getting in emails, texts, PMs, calls, and smoke signals, there seems to be a lot of support for something in the neighborhood of #395.
I'm wondering how people feel about the restricted header? There hasn't been a lot of forum discussion about it, but a few folks have asked to have the regular full-sized header. The idea was that it would slow the class down a bit, but I'm wondering how many people really want it slower? _________________ High Quality American Made kart stands. Tim,
I think almost everyone would be in support of keeping the full size header. None of us like to race one combo here and another combo there. It certainly makes things more simple to run the full size header. |

Very true about one setup here, another setup there.
Personally I don't own a Leopard, but have already talking to a shop about renting one for the race at Mooresville.

I don't like the restricted header on any of the Leopards. Just adds more expense. $93.00 for header, $7.50 gasket, + Flex + shipping. IF you feel you need to slow em down, spec a gear to lower RPM's. (Lower RPM's = longer time between rebuilds, smoother driving in my book) _________________ Greg Wilkinson

Mark was just announcing that the website was up, he wasn't saying look at the site for a Masters update. Nothing has been decided yet far as I know but I suspect the weight will be increased. First race is the end of April. Patience! |
