Hi, has anyone tested this?
"With the sprocket working with half the number of teeth than a traditional sprocket, and half the weight, it produces less drag which then equates to more horsepower.
The gain in terms of RPM is in the vicinity of 200-300rpm."

The dirt oval guys use these all the time. I consider it a good way to lose your chain and strip teeth off at the most inopportune time. If you're resorting to this to lose weight before mag wheels, lightweight hubs, and carbon fiber seat, I think it's a waste and not worth the risk. _________________ Owner, www.hamiltonhelmets.com // UAS Racer #76 // Karting for karting's sake...keep it fun! |

| Works ok with #35 chain. Wouldn't use it with a #219 chain. |

The RPM gained claim is of course pure absolute BS.
However, on short a oval track that's 14s or less and karts are within hundredths of each other, maybe?
Can't help but think for a qualifying sprocket though you could have even less metal on there. _________________ Live in the midwest and have a TaG, Shifter, KPV, KT100, Animal\LO206, enduro or superkart?

| I used to make my own with the plastic gears. It worked but didn't see any additional performance gain. |

Seems very farfetched to me. Unless that changes the gear ratio (which it shouldnt for the same "number of teeth") it couldn't possible gain rpm. Sure, there will be less friction; when there are no teeth left on the thing. I would stay away. If you really want to have less friction and less weight try one of these. I've never had a problem with them, but I don't think they make you any faster. To each there own in their mindset though. If it works in your head that might be enough to help your confidence on track.

If a standard sprocket sapped that many rpm compared to this "light weight" one, it should be glowing red-hot within a lap or two.
Absurd claim. |
