Contact early dropped both Americans down the order. Still solid results as they never gave up.

Contact with Latifi in turn 3 took him out of the race while fighting just outside the top-five.

American competitors seem to be off the pace compared to others, is there a reason, I think we have good drivers here or don't we?

I personally think that it is due to lack of National Tour. All of these countries have a "National" championship that travels the country and allows the drivers to get World Class competition each weekend. We just need a national Rotax series that all of the top US driver can compete in. We are just too large of a country to get numbers at that level.

I feel this has put the US Rotax program at a catch 22 by having set up a program where lots of entrants can get to regional competitions, but at the same time creating a situation where people are happier to just run at a regional level.

While US Grand Nationals is a very well put together program with lots of hope in a relatively small market for the US, it will never allow our drivers to be at a level of week-in week-out standard that the rest of the world is at.

Perhaps taking a page out of Mr. Wright's book and running a similar program to the FWT we could create a buzz and excitement that would entice the top talent in the US (and abroad for that matter) to run a full-time national Rotax series.

Just my $.02 on the topic.

Very Happy

After reading the results I'm kind of surprised. I feel bad saying this but all Team USA around the 20th spot? Is that where we are talent wise? I would hope not. If this was the Motorcross Des Nations guys would be catching hell. Maybe karting is just for fun in this country. Does this show why no F1 drivers?

I don't get it. What where Team USA goals? Did they think we would have a guy in each class on the podium and that just didnt' happen or was it just nice to go and compete.

I guess we would need to get feedback from the drivers and tuners to see what they felt was holding them back. My guess is they are good on talent, but not quite as experienced in tuning and driving in euroland. Next year should be very interesting at Nola.

FWIW the winner in Rotax sr came from a country with a population smaller than the state of MN. Maybe it was a fluke, but it was still cool Smile I don't know if (yet another, ugh) USA "national" championship is the answer, but maybe more frequent opportunities for these drivers to race against each other at a high level would help. Easier said than done however.
