|
|
Decided to upgrade my radiator on my Leopard to help out with the wonderful hot hot weather here in Florida. I am going through Ellis Racing and having a radiator made. I would like to get some ideas on the ideal size for an upgraded radiator for a Leopard. The standard and smaller size through Ellis is a 16 x 8. I am thinking that may be a bit on the large size. Would love to see what size you guys prefer to upgrade to when leaving the stock IAME radiator.
Thanks!

When it comes to radiators youre better off with too large than too small. You can always tape it off. _________________ 2Wild Karting

I agree with you Ryon. So, what size do you feel is ideal if you were to order new? _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

| Matt, I had an IM radiator for my leopard and it was absurdly oversized for the NW climate. It's really a shifter radiator, but things get hotter in FL. Built to withstand a direct hit from a tactical nuke. |

Jim- I had considered the IM radiator (the med size one) but they were out of stock and 17.5" tall did seem to tall for me. Did you run the Med size IM?
I think the 16 x 8 will be just fine the more I read on it. _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

I had the medium or standard KG rad and the 16 x 10 that Comet sells. Both were more than enough for races in the SE. I think the 16 x 8 would be fine. Get a mount where you can stand the rad more up or lay it back. Stand it up when it's hot out and lay it back when it cools off.
BTW, I had to raise the curtain or tape off both rads even with temps as high as 95*. With a leopard I would see 135-145* at those temps.

This is the rad w/mount from Comet.

I use the Spike radiator shown in Gregg's pic. Its 16x10 and its been great in all temps, including 100+ degrees in Phoenix. I highly recommend it. The mount is very nice too. _________________ High Quality American Made kart stands. Available direct to you or through one of our many dealers.
