Where did you source the sensor for your ignition interrupt? Looks like a pretty slick setup. |

I earn a living building tug boats. That switch is a Cole Herse marine grade push button switch typicaly used on a starter. It's nothing more than a high quality push button switch with a threaded shank. West Marine should have them just get the Cole Herse brand not the chinese copy.

I bought a inline shift interrupter a few years ago, it was pretty cool. It had a box that plugged into the ignition of the engine, instead of killing the motor entirely for a split second, it would just decrease the spark reducing the power just enough to allow a shift. You could barely hear it change gears.
The problem was it cost $450 and didnt make it through one practice day. I sent it back to the guy I bought it from and he said it couldnt be fixed and I would have to buy a new switch ($350). I told the guy to go screw himself and considered it a lesson learned.
Bottom line, it was a cool toy if you have some extra $$$ laying around, but it didnt make me any faster. Also the more stuff like this on your kart, the more likely you are to DNF an important race. |

That's what happened to Thonon one year when he was running a Mechawhatever.

The interupt did make me faster but that might be because I'm learning and my skill level isn't there yet.

I suppose I still have to ask, you spend a lot of time putting the chassis together to the best of your ability; spend a bunch of money on a well built Stock Honda; practice and tune with it to make it and you better-- then put an illegal component on it? You know up front you are not legal for the class and if you race it against others with legal equipment, the most you could do is mess up someone else's race. What's the point?
It's like someone with a mod or running grossly underweight in Stock Honda (or any class for that matter), then taking out someone trying to compete properly. I'm pretty sure everyone would agree, it wouldn't make our fellow competitors very happy! To say the least!
If you want to play with something of your own creation, which is knowingly illegal, then please limit your track time to practice days. Please don't play at someone else's expense. |
