IF anybody, anywhere in the world truly finds "a level playing field" in racing (or for that matter anything) bottle it! You will have found your fortune!
Life and motorsports aren't ever going to be "level playing field", sorry to let you in on a secret everyone in the world already knows...

CES series comes pretty close....
The tracks on the roster are not generally available for karts during the week. Sometimes gingerman will do something mid week, but it's never a situation where you can practice there nearly any and every day of the week like you might at a dedicated kart track.
Tech and registration on Friday, no practice/testing. That means one less day for kid outta school, one less day of PTO to have to take. One less night in a hotel if you aren't camping at the track. Buy dinner with the money saved on the practice/testing fee.
Practice starts early on Sat morning.
Tires are pretty open depending on class. The races are usually 25mins so thats a bit of a leveller with tire wear. That said, if your group/class reached a consensus and wanted to limit the amount of sets of tires per weekend I would say they would accommodate.
You can expect around 1hr of track time per class, per day.
You can't ever completely "level" the playing field, but I'd say CES does a reasonable job of smoothing it a little while keeping the goalposts fixed.

This plays against the focus of the series. They are trying to limit classes and I like the line-up they've presented. If you want shifter racing in the midwest, SKUSA has it's own Midwest ProKart Challenge (I'm told likely 3-4 races) and SKUSA is also rumored to be planning a one-off East Coast Nationals following the Pro Tour equation. Also, the CES offers a excellent experience in road racing.
In the end, I think the USPKS promoters have rolled out a focused structure that will likely find a client base.

I don't know if I'm supposed to be discussing this stuff on the forums yet or not, but I will anyway just so this train stays on the tracks.
Before everyone starts bagging on this series, they might want to actually wait and see some of the details. The finishing touches are being put on right now and I expect most of the information to be released next week.
There are a ton of hardworking people who are go karters at heart that want to see a "national" series that is run by racers, for racers. I firmly believe that is what is being put together.
Here is some of what you can expect.
This series will be a no BS series. It will welcome sponsorship from industry people, but not with strings attached. The classes were chosen based on what was logical and feasible for the largest number of racers to get a chance to participate. This is not a "pay to play" series.
The officiating and staff will be professional and knowledgeable. You'll not be left sitting on the grid for 20 min during a red flag without any idea what's going on.
Rules will not change in the middle of the season and if any changes become necessary, ample time to comply with them will be given.
Feedback from the racers is not only welcome, but encouraged.
The program will be run on a timeline.
There will not be 20+ "national champions" from this series. There will be 7. And should you be lucky enough and good enough to win one, you and your competitors will know you earned it.
You'll get lots of laps. Then you'll get some more laps. And before it's all done, you'll feel like you got your money's worth. You won't need to run 5 classes to get plenty of racing, you'll do just fine with 1 per day.
There is plenty more good stuff to come, but I'll save it for the official release. Let's just say, this is gonna be fun...

I believe the classes will be:
Yamaha Rookie
Yamaha Sportsman
Yamaha Junior
Yamaha Senior
Tag Jr (Leopard only)( I also heard something about this class being for 15 & 16 year olds only, not sure though)
Tag Sr (Leopard only, money class)
Races are supposed to be Qualifying, 2 heat races with points like supernats or Rotax, Finals. Final minimum race length of 20 minutes. Rick Fulks as race director. If you don't know him, he is good. Fair, even if I don't always agree with his calls, consistent, no nonsense. Not sure if they will have a banquet like the Rt 66 series or not. If they do though, they are legendary.

Well said Tim and Rob.
I have the utmost confidence in Mark and his new series. He has had a VERY successful series in the midwest for years. The biggest complaint I hear all the time is too many classes, not enough track time, rules constantly change, karting is getting too expensive.
Mark's new series is addressing these concerns. If these are your concerns, then you should give USPKS a try.
Lastly, USPKS most likely will have substantial prizes at the end of the year like Route 66 does. |

| Dispite what I always hear, thats just what karting needs another series, line. If this turns out to be 1/2 of what it is expected to be, It will be just what karting needs!!! A series by racers for racers, seems like a new experience for karting. One engine for the TAG class, & Yamaha, almost everyone already has one or the other or both. None of the this engine is better this week for this track crap $$. No worries about changes in weight for this engine or that one. No giving the series $10K for a new engine so the racers have to spend $100k. A series that actually gives back to, and looks out for the racers(if it is anything like what I've heard about RT66) will definitely be a breath of fresh air. |

Sounds good. Keep us posted. I have no desire to run a KT100 personally, but running a leopard at USAIR would be slick.
