I don't know that there is any specific rule for that. The CR250 Honda is a 5 speed where the 257 Rotax is a 6 speed. Both are legal in the IC/E class for IKF. I am not sure how the WKA classifies them.
Hope this helps. |

5 speed in the CR Honda in IKF, no mods to allowing for 6 gears in the ICE class is I believe the rule. _________________ www.Hegar4.com |

Chris is correct.
I received information after my post that the new rule book will have information clearing up any misunderstandings about gearboxes and what can and can't be done with them in the IC/E class.
Doug, the IKF rule book normally comes out in late December / early January. But I am sure you can direct any specific questions to any of the BoD of the IKF and they can answer your questions. |

Rotax 257 is 5 or 6 speed
CR 250 Honda is 5 speed
TRX Honda is 6 speed
IKF Rules 2012 read:
Gearbox - Ratio's are not controlled. Aftermarket parts are allowed.
These rules are expediently in process of being changed to state that Honda CR 250 must remain 5 speed. This is done specifically to exclude the newly completed Viper Racing UK 6 speed kit or any simulary evolving initiatives made to install in to CR 250's.
Doug as you are back east (I think) you should check with local clubs. If you are planning to develop something be sure to clarify the intent of the rules not just the engineering definition of the text.
Hope this helps - DM _________________ DEAN MARTIN |
