So do you just cut the black and white wire and install a switch between it?
when the switch is on the kart will start and run, when the switch is off the kart will automatically shut off?
Seems pretty simple, am I in the right track? |

| the image says "this pair of wires..." so do you need both the black and black with white for the switch? |

Jeez you guys are killing me here. 10 posts and no straight answer.
On the wiring harness - the two wires that Jason indicates extend back to two bullet connectors, one male, one female. These are probably taped up somewhere along the harness of an already installed engine setup on a kart. Leaving these unconnected to anything, the engine runs. Shorting the two together is the kill function. You can use either a simple toggle switch if you want it to kill and be killed or you can use a momentary switch that you have to press and hold to get the full kill, then when released it will run again.
Most don't hook them up as simply just something else to go wrong, or be in the way.
On our stock moto, we don't use them. On the CR250 in the Superkart, we have it hooked up as the 250 tries to lug a bit and we want a good clean kill.
YMMV |

finally, thank you !!
So if I get a new motor with a new CDI I should be able to find those male and female pins upstream somewhere and connect a switch to them so short them and kill the engine.
So I have to ask, how do you turn of a CR125? So you make stall? |

The way the carb is setup and jetted, after the run, just lifting the throttle and pulling in the clutch, the engine dies.
We use a Keihen PWM, jetted with around a 175 - depending on the air... that discussion is on another thread. Just suffice it to say, the engine dies. |

You can set the idle very low so it won't idle. While jetting does affect idle, I wouldn't chase the idle via jetting changes. Change it with the idle screw.
The PWM and PWK set idle differently:
PWK has a little black plastic screw knob on the fuel intake side. Turn it to set idle.
PWM uses the choke knob (in UP position) to set idle. Pull it up, then turn to set idle.
Sorry I can't remember which direction decreases idle, so on either carb, just turn it each direction and you'll figure it out. _________________ Randy
