|
|
Curious if anyone is running the 1 piece version IAME exhaust. Saw it on the website and wanted to get some opinions on it. I see there is a spacer available as well (minor tuning?) as opposed to the flex tubing on the standard.

Thoughts/Experience?
Thanks!

It would definitely put you at a disadvantage against everyone else who can tune with flex.... _________________ John Matthews

Is the amount of tunning that can be done with the flex really that significant though? Most people I have talked to recently have told me they hardly ever bother with it. _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

Especially when the bits and pieces of broken flex run through your motor! Never had any problems with Iame HPV motors with solid flex.

Yes it is.
As for broken flex, secure your pipe well and replace as you see it beginning to fail. _________________ Matt Dixon

In talking with Italian Motors, they mentioned up to 3 spacers could be added for tunning purposes. _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

Try it if you want, and it's legal where you race.
But, flex has worked just fine for at least the past 35 years since I started learning about 2 cycle engine tuning. If you already have a pipe it would seem like an unnecessary expense that is very unlikely to improve performance. If you just like the look of a 1 piece go for it, but be prepared for people saying you're cheating

I am interested in simply understanding the two options fully. The one piece just seems like much less of a hassle to upkeep if similar end results can be achieved. _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

What about the rigity of the one piece causing a crack/break somewhere? _________________ Blaise Haynes

IM told me to start off with wire tie and clamp for break in before switching to springs. They said there has not been a case of the unit breaking cracking that they know of. _________________ Tony Kart Krypton/MY09 Leopard |

We ran that same pipe and flange on the MiniRok for a couple years with no problems. But I still recomend the flex/pipe style. _________________ Matt Dixon

Installed and tested the new 1 piece exhaust. Couldn't be happier with the product. I have spacers available to tune with when needed at other tracks, but they were not needed at my home track Orlando after thorough testing. While I understand the tuning abilities of the flex pipe on the 2 piece exhaust, this was a better option for me and there is zero mess to clean up during the day! Thanks for all the opinions and advice guys!
