Just a reminder. Highway 80 from I-95 to the track is a notorious speed trap. Please dont waste your beer money paying for a ticket.

Dave Williams has all of this weekends race results already posted, thanks Dave!

The racing Saturday was hot and contested with multiple WKA national class championships decided by mere points and hundredths of a second. Photo finishes were the norm, with wining by a nose the way to get he best finish. Multiple teams made long trips to race this weekend from as far as Franklin WI, Baton Rouge LA and Albany NY.

Sunday, the rain came overnight around midnight, but we were able to get in all of the practice and shortened races. The racers were quick to grid and ready to race. None of the race groups were left out today with close finishes again being the name of the game. The single red flag happened in the Briggs class in turn 4 when the grip was not quite enough. It seems that the sand was the looser as the racer got up and started field goal practice immediately.

When we pulled out of the track after all races were complete by a scant 20 minutes, we were greeted with rain as we headed south toward our homes Florida.

Here are the results-

Looks like entries were very low???

Too bad this race was so close to Summit Point.

We need to bring Charlotte Back as the season finale in late Oct.
I can remember when the fields their were as big as Daytona

Yes the entries were not what we had hoped for with a national, but you can bet the best were there, so if you won, you were competing against the likes of the Fry’s, Atkinson, Marz, Rougeou and many others.

There is no intentional attempt to make any race close to another club race by anyone. It does not benefit our clubs or our sport. We race at an SCCA owned track, we are offered limited choices as to the dates we can choose from, they conduct many events there and they get what they want/need first. It is just the blunt reality of any track rental.

Who would you suggest to take the risk of putting on such an event? Entries have been lower at all of the events and all of the clubs are looking at ways to increase kart counts and decrease expenses. We rely heavily on member support and have been very fortunate that our club members have stepped up.

You comments are true, but if you want to see improvements, help a club, attend a race or even just fill out a sponsor form send it in to one of the clubs. Karters need to know that sitting around and postulating on a forum will not help maintain or grow our sport. Active participation and support is the only way for this to get any better.

Like Dom said, entries weren't great but the competition was plenty tough and the whole event was extremely well organized. I just wish I had had more free time to catch up with all my friends.

I've got to believe the forecasts for rain which never materialized during the races kept a lot of folks away. Unfortunately, with this economy and these fuel prices, folks don't need much of an excuse to stay home. If there's any doubt about the weather, a lot of guys just skip it which is a shame and has become a viscous cycle that leads to clubs having to increase entry fees (to pay the bills), which leads to more people staying away, etc. etc.. But I'm glad I made the 11 hour trip and even after the $400 diesel bill shows up on the credit card statement, I won't have any regrets. SKC is a top notch club and Roebling is a great venue. Both need and deserve all the support karters can give them.
