 Finally ready for assembly. A 3 valve, raised port billet head on the Animal block. It has a 1" deck raiser, 3" bore and stroker crank. Displacement comes to 283cc's. Two intake valves, billet roller rockers, 34mm alcohol carb and .450" lift at the valve. Last one I did like this made 36hp at 7600 rpm. Nice ride.
This one is going to compete in the UAS dirt speedway series.

 Well, I would love to. But I am too old, ugly and beat up to race anything anymore. I might find a younger, stronger and better driver to drive it for me We do plan to be there.

John, I'm not like you. I am a computer illiterate. I'll get Kim to post a link to some photos of it. I ground a new cam for it last night. I'm thinking that I will try two cams in it to see what this new head likes. I suspect that having the amount of airflow it has @ low lift I should be able to run much lower lift at the valve and make more torque than the higher lift cams. If that works out, it will save on the valve train wear.
Better watch out, Santa is checking his list !

Depending on cost have you ever considered it as a 125cc competitor? What are the specs? Ever considered a 3or4 valve optionon the world formula on 93octane?
I hope to one day run a wf or similar in solo 2 auto.

Hi Richard,
Mikes Animal head will bolt right up to a World Formula but you have to do a whole lot more if you want to achieve the performance potential. The open Animals Mike builds have massive power but they're not for folks who just want to bolt something on and go like the current TaG engines. You really need to be an engine builder or work with a good one if you want to keep an engine like that together but they sure would be fun on a solo 2 course.
Another engine to take a look at for that application is the Briggs 305. They make lots of power and torque but can be run for a lot longer with less maintenance. However the main problem with running an open 4-stroke is the lack of classes in sprint karting. Most of these engines run on dirt ovals with Unlimited All-Stars or a local RWYB class.
Stock Honda (125 shifter) seems to have a good following in Solo 2 and there's lots of used setups on the market. Obviously as you've found the World Formula makes a great package for auto-x runs with it's low maintenance and ease of use. It will also be easier if your son continues to run not having two different engine packages.
