What type of oil depends on what revision of crankcase/gear cover you happen to have.
Some said 15W-40, some said SAE30. The manual also said 15W-40 at one time. It was one of the great discrepancies in Rotax.
Depending on your ambient temperatures, choose an oil viscosity appropriately.
Also remember that the old (plastic) gears had a line on the side of the cover which corresponded to about 50cc. There was also a screw which could be removed to check proper fill level.
The new (metal) gears changed things a bit. You now need 100cc and you can no longer use the line nor check screw on the side of the cover.
It doesn't really matter much, since as a matter of normal maintenance, you should be draining the oil and checking it for particles regularly anyways. |
