I was wondering what the difference is between 5" and 6" wheels for sprint applications? It seems as though NOBODY runs 6" wheels anymore, all you see are 5"?

6" wheels will give you better side wall support. If you're a big and tall guy and you're really loading your tires you might need them. Most people don't need that much side wall support so, they use the lighter 5" wheels to reduce rotating mass.

I've heard 6" wheels are better for road racing. Why is that?

John, the 6 inch wheel has a smaller slip angle taking less time to unload the flex from the side wall. This frees up the rear end faster and allows for a smoother exit.
