Hi guys.
I hear a lot on these US forums about programmable ignition systems. Is it possible to run these systems on JICA and FA engines?
In the last few weeks there have been a lot of rumours circulating here about certain teams using PI systems. From our rules its hard to say whats legal and whats not.
Its only 1 line:
"No form of variable ignition is permitted that may be adjusted whilst the kart is in motion"
Thanks in advance.

Yes, they regularly make drivers run on ignitions supplied by the series in the British Championships if they look quick then I guess the scrutineers think PIs have an advantage. I've also heard that a certain FSA team uses a system that cannot be detected.
However, if you run CIK classes to strict CIK rules like we do in the UK then you cannot legally use PI's.

I think we should start doing like in the UK by handing out the CDI`s to each driver. However i dont think thats going to happen here for a while, if ever.
Does anyone know anything about the digital ignition systems supplied by PVL? Are these systems classed as illegal under CIK rules?
Where can i get the CIK rulebook online? |
