what needs to be done to change my yamaha engine from right hand mounting to left hand. is this something that I could do myself, or should I take it to the shop. any help would be appreciated.

to change a yam from right to left first pull cylinder and head off
pull piston off and rev it with ring gap to ex port .
now split motor drill a new pulse port on the motor on back side in the same place as front one and press in fiting.
ok now drop cylinder back on motor with ring gap to carb .and the cases will have the new pulse hole to front .
now pull the ignition flywheel and install a rev dir. flywheel.also ad a 2 pc starter nut on to flywheel side and then drill a hole in the ign. cover for it to come throu. you now have a yam left hand ,dont touch the cases and try to match the ports it does not hurt a yam . jim fuchs, fuch built engines.

Took me a minute to find it also.

Its listed as "axle clutch 3rd bearing support" on there page. Has a pic that is very self explanitory on how it works.

Kevin, Why are you putting the engine on the left? are you putting it on an enduro kart? If you are, you don't need to reverse the engine. If you do need to reverse it, I have a good used flywheel you might be interested in.

or, buy a inboard drive kit from TS racing (tsracing.com) Its cheap and simple, and just a couple of bolts to switch it back to outboard drive.

yes I am putting it on an enduro with a left hand mounted engine. I can get the engine dirt cheap and I thought I could use it as a practice engine if it wouldn't be to hard to set up.

An enduro usually has an axle clutch that's in between the axle bearings so you don't need to reverse the direction of the yamaha unless you plan on running an outboard engine clutch (which is not recomended for the 5:1 gear ratio you'll need). With the axle clutch you will need a starter nut to go on the flywheel and you'll have to cut a hole in the ignition cover.
