TO continue on with the discussion in our new forum!!
(John F., moderator? you just never learn, eh? )
I believe the CIK regs do allow for running a single in the twin class, if one so desires. Just can't run a twin in the single class.
At many regional events, there just are not that many karts total. What about leaving the classes as is, however allow a single to enter either the ICE class or at a regional/club race, allow a single to enter the FE class with no minimal weight??
Like Gary, I already have 30-40 lbs bolted on the kart to make 460. If you raise the weight to 490, that's another 30lbs more on top of what we already have. At any number of tracks, I'd just as soon pull off all the weights and take our chances with the twins as oppossed to trying to mount 60 lbs of lead on the kart. Been there done that for years and its a pain in the butt. |

Charlie,
This sounds like a great for the guys who have to bolt on extra weight to meet the minimums in the ICE class, but what about the guys who can't meet the minimums, ie. 510lbs. 60 lbs over minimums, and running in the same class with the F/E's. Perhaps insted of a no minimum weight, a time handy cap at the the end of the race based on final weight at scales. I'm not sure though how to come up with an equitable time dedution for the heavys. The main point is that there is nothing the heavys can benifit from with this plan (other than just having fun) without some sort of time compensation.

| Mark, bump the class weight for ICE to 490 to help the heavy guys out. All I'm saying is that if an ICE guy wants the option of not bolting on 50-60 or more lbs, then let them run against the twins with no weight limit. |

Agreed, the 485-490 lbs for the ICE. So your saying as an option, with 2 classes, if the light weight ICE driver wants to run and be scored with the F/E's, then no weight min. Heavy ICE driver plays with the other ICE's and is scored seperately.
I am not trying to be dense, its Monday, and its cold enough to start adding Baileys to the coffee. |

Charlie, I think we all know that it might be a while before we have enough singles let alone twins to fill a whole class by its self. It was kind of unfair at Barber when we got grouped together with the twins. Hey one more lap and Long was toast!!! He dropped a cylinder on the last lap...
I like the idea of running a lighter version of a single in the twin class, but I think you still need a minimum weight, or it could get out of hand easily.
I like the 485/490 range also, I'm in the 500 to 505 range.
Is there a forum on here where the WKA Road Racing rules are being discussed???
Thanks,
Chris R. |
