SATURDAY, APRIL 15
The opening round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting national championship enjoyed much better weather than was predicted as the anticipated rain and snow held off, eventually making way for some sun later in the day. Gatorz Pole Qualifying and three rounds of heat races were on the docket today, setting up for a pair of main events on Sunday. The level of competition is extremely high and the racing was excellent as a result, with excellent head-to-head battles all through the order. After a day of practice in the rain on Friday, today’s events gave us a good look at the drivers who are going to challenge for race wins and championships in 2007.

FRIDAY, APRIL 14
Things are finally underway at the Mazda Race of the Americas, the opening round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by the IRL, as the 2007 kickoff weekend began today in sloppy and wet conditions at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, OK. Virtually identical to the way we left the facility back in March of 2006, the conditions are wet, cold, and windy; certainly not a good way to begin the year. On a high note, the paddock is jammed with over 220 entries with all five classes featured 40+ kart grids.

Team Preview
As the grass begins to grow green and the leaves begin to form again in some areas of North America, the 2007 Snap-on Stars of Karting series gets set to begin its season with the third edition of the Race of the Americas event at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, OK, sponsored this year by Mazda. Scheduled to run this weekend, the early forecast for the weekend does not look warm with temperatures set for the 40s with a chance of rain, something Paul Zalud and his Stars staff werelooking to avoid, having moved the event from March to April.
