| SKI Stars of Karting Constructors Championship |

In an effort to help promote the chassis manufacturers who make up the foundation of karting, Super Kart Illustrated will once again be looking at the ongoing chase for the SKI Constructors’ Championship. Today’s look is at the rankings as of the June 2006 issue. With the first East and West stand-alone events in the books after the month of May, the national championship battles began to shape up as well as the Constructors Championship. Last year’s champion, CRG, had a solid 2005 season, edging runner-up Tony Kart by 160 points. The 2006 chase though is shaping up to be a fierce battle between many manufacturers.
After three weekends in the Snap-on Stars of Karting series, the Birel chassis currently leads the SKI Constructors Championship. Scoring three victories at the Race of the Americas, including Wesley Boswell’s win in ICC, the Birel brand has the highest one day score record this year. The next event at Tucson, the red of Birel was seen at the front of the pack in the four divisions to score the 65 points for the weekend.
With a strong New Castle event, CRG holds on to the second spot, just six points out. Six podium finishes helped them to score 63 points, just two shy of Birel’s two final weekend best point total.
The Intrepid squad, with the help of three victories in four race by ICC pilot Jordy Vorrath, moved up to third, just four points ahead of the Tony Kart brand. Rounding out the top five is the First Kart brand that is scoring high points in the Spec Racer and JICA divisions.
