 | Trackmagic's Gary Carlton drove strong with a heavy heart to take an emotional ICC victory Sunday

Less than 24 hours after learning of the sudden passing of his team owner, Trackmagic factory driver Gary Carlton was able to pull it all together when he headed into ICC battle in Tucson for the back-end of the double-header second round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting Western Division. To Carlton’s credit, he did it with class and persevered through difficult circumstances to score an emotional victory.

SATURDAY, APRIL 22
A quick overview of the second round of the Stars of Karting would start with a weekend weather report that would completely contrast the opening round at the Race of the Americas event in Norman, OK. Temperatures reaching the 90s and strong winds had people searching for shade and cover. The racing was also hot on the track with a full day of action.

FRIDAY, APRIL 21
The chase for the National Championship gets underway this weekend at the P1 Kart Circuit with the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by the IRL. The first ever Stars event at the Tucson, AZ facility will be the second event to be included in the Western Division schedule. The Stars’ season got underway last month in Norman for the Race of the Americas event, pinning drivers from both the East and West divisions head-to-head. The East and West will both contest three events each to declare the divisional champions before joining together again in Toronto for the National Finals to decide the 2006 national champions.
