GATORZ Karting Cup Allows Front Brakes in 2006

The GATORZ Karting Cup will follow International RMC rules and allow front wheel brakes (FWB) in all adult Rotax classes for 2006.

“As the largest Rotax Max Challenge Series in the US, we need to be on the forefront of all rules changes,” stated series owner Andy Seesemann of Full Throttle Karting. “The option for participants to run with front wheel brakes gives our competitors more safety alternatives, and safety is our primary concern.

“It is our position that the allowance of front wheel brakes will not change the competitiveness of the racing in GATORZ. This equipment has been allowed by the CIK as well as Rotax for the past three years without any trade off in competitiveness, so I don’t anticipate any in GATORZ competition.”

According to the U.S. Rotax Max Challenge Rules Primer, front wheel brakes will be allowed, but are not mandatory. The Primer reads:

“All braking systems must be operated simultaneously by a single foot pedal unless necessitated by physical handicap and approved by the event scrutineer.” This means all hand-operated systems are prohibited except when necessary for those with physical handicaps that require hand controls.

In further news, the Bridgestone YJP rain tire is the only acceptable rain tire in GATORZ Karting Cup competition for 2006. This is a change, as any mass-produced rain tire was previously allowed.

The GATORZ Eyewear Golden State Karting Cup is a kart racing series based in southern California which is dedicated to providing racers with extraordinary track time and a reasonable race day. The Gatorz Series is owned and operated by Andy Seesemann of Full Throttle Karting, a karting retail store in Orange, California. The first round of the 2006 season is scheduled for February 18 at the Buttonwillow Kart Track.
