Track News: Pitt Race Karting Announces 2013 Schedule

Pitt Race Karting will once again be the host of the very best in local, regional and national karting competitions in 2013.

The season kicks off in the Spring with a local flavor featuring the PRK Series with Race 1 April 14th closely followed by Races 2 & 3 April 21st and May 5th respectively. After a short break while school winds down the Summer stretch launches as the PRK Series also plays host to the PRK Rotax Series. The first combined event will be June 2 followed by four additional racedays over two PRK Double Race weekends, June 15th-16th and July 6th-7th. The five Rotax events will provide ample opportunity for Rotax racers to earn the required number of “Punches” required to enter the 2013 Rotax Grands.

The last weekend in July will see a newcomer to the Wilson Circuit as the Gear Up Challenge“F-Series” will make their debut July 28th combined with PRK Race 9.

“The Gear Up Challenge has a tremendous regional following and we are very excited to introduce their racers to our facility. In combining the two events, we hope to boost the crowds for both our local series as well as for the F-Series,” stated PRK Karting Director Brandon Adkins.

August has become the “Month of WKA” once again at the Western Pennsylvania circuit. The jam packed schedule starts with the final PRK Double Weekend of 2013 with PRK Races 10 and 11 August 3rd-4th. WKA then storms into town starting with the Great Lakes Sprint Series August 9th-11th followed by the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup August 16th-18th and finally ending the month with the WKA Gold Cup August 23rd-25th.

PRK Race 12 on September 1st will be a great tune up before the newly created “USPKS” season finale comes to town September 6th-8th. The PRK Series then returns for the last three races of the Championship September 15th and 22nd before finishing out the PRK season with Race 15 on October 6th.

“The 2013 Karting schedule features a diverse and exciting schedule, one of the best in the country we feel. We are thrilled to have a full schedule prepared for our racers at Pitt Race Karting! There are many new and exciting additions and programs in the works as well. I am very happy to be on board as the new Karting Director at PRK and look forward to getting the season started,” continued Adkins.

Also for 2013 PRK will be introducing its Rental Karting League program with a Spring, Summer and Fall Series. League Racing allows all of the fun of our PRK Race Series without the logistics of owning a kart. Using the PRK Rental Karts, drivers compete in three track sessions every Tuesday night, starting at 6:30pm for series end awards.

In addition, the PRK facility and fleet of Birel N35 rental karts are available for individual, private group and corporate events. Rent the karts and venue exclusively to ensure an amazing experience for groups of friends, family or co-workers. From the “Basic Race” package to the “Grand Prix” event, PRK is the source for an exciting and unforgettable experience.

Pitt Race Karting will be offering multiple seminars and karting clinics throughout the season. The first clinic will be held the weekend of February 9th along with the 2012 PRK Series banquet.

With our new facility improvements, which include repaving, new buildings and upgraded restroom facilities, the Pittsburgh International Race Complex is on track to present a new beginning for motorsports in Western Pennsylvania.
