Industry News: TORQ Racing Engines and McLaughlin Motorsports Part Ways

After a solid four-year run of developing a new karting program into a national winning engine shop, Motorama Kart Parts (MKP) and McLaughlin Motorsports have made the decision to suspend operations of the TORQ Racing Engines program. Effective late in December of 2012, MKP and engine builder Doug Sharp amicably parted ways, as both will continue their work in the karting industry down different paths.

"We have put a lot into this program over the years, but at this time I feel this is the best option for us to move forward with everything we have going on," stated Bill McLaughlin, Owner and President of MKP. "Doug was a good fit for the older business model but moving forward, we felt a change was necessary."

For the remainder of the 2013 season, MKP will be seeking new personnel to hopefully re-launch the TORQ program on both the regional and national level. With a strong presence throughout the Midwest and the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup program, MKP will be looking to fill the void in their growing program.

McLaughlin added, "MKP would also like to make it very clear that we have the ability to continue to support our current TORQ customers as the season moves forward."
