When the 2013 karting season commences in North America in a few weeks time, a new name is poised to be among the leaders, thanks to the formation of the Villa Race Team. Formed via private funding, G Chaves, and multiple karting champion race engineer Daniel Villa, the Florida-based team is focused on not only being a race and title-winning outfit, but also working with the next stars of motorsports.
Back in 2005, Villa began working with a young and talented racer named Gabby Chaves. The duo immediately gelled, becoming a star pairing in the karting ranks. This partnership ultimately resulted in numerous wins, and eight local and national karting titles. Following the 2007 season, Chaves made the move to car competition, and while he was focused on winning races and championship as he moved up the motorsports ladder, he remained in close contact with Villa. The duo recently reunited for a one-off engagement in the premier karting event on the North American calendar...the Superkarts USA! SuperNationals in Las Vegas. Chaves and Villa promptly resumed their winning ways, scoring the victory in the TaG Senior class, edging multiple current champions. Building on this recent success and the duo's passion for karting and helping drivers grow and develop behind the wheel, they have elected to join forces yet again via a new karting squad titled the Villa Race Team.
"We are very excited about the formation of Villa Race Team," stated Chaves. "Daniel has a proven track record of winning and helping develop talented your racers. We can't wait for the 2013 season to get underway in January in Florida."
"I'm really looking forward to this new opportunity," commented Villa. "I believe all the pieces are in place to not only win races and potentially championships, but also to work with some future stars of racing."
Villa enters this new racing endeavor with an impressive body of work already on his karting resume. In addition to working with Chaves, the Floridian has worked with talented karters like Pietro Fittipaldi, Felipe Guimarades, Darren Keane, Sebastian Ordonez, and Dalton and Logan Sargent. One of the most highly-regarded race engineers in North American karting, Villa's has helped guide drivers to over 100 wins and 30 championships in series such as the Florida Winter Tour, SKUSA, World Karting Association, Stars of Karting, Rotax Max Challenge, Pan American Championships, and Easy Kart Nationals.
Based in Davie, Fla., the Villa Race Team will officially commence its quest for race wins and titles via the 2013 Florida Winter Tour season-opener on January 12-13, at Palm Beach International Raceway. The squad will offer arrive and drive programs with 2012 constructor's champion Tony Kart, with private coaching from Gabby Chaves also available to be booked.
