WKA Announce Reminders for Manufacturer’s Cup Series Competitors Heading to Daytona KartWeek
Article by: WKA PitBoard

Man Cup reserved parking notes for Daytona
Reserved parking requests for the December 27-30 Margay Sprint Championships for the WKA Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series have come in at a fast rate since the opening of pre-registration several weeks ago.

However, when the entry form was first posted, there was an omission regarding reserved parking that has since been fixed.

The original entry form did not list the option to reserve parking spaces for the event. A number of competitors sent in completed pre-entries before the error was fixed.

If you pre-entered and did not reserve a pit spot, please note that you will either need to pit in the free parking area of the paddock or under a team's tent.

If you're not pitting under a tent and have not reserved a pit spot, please call Keith Shampine at the WKA office (704-455-1606 ext. 15) or email keith@worldkarting.com as soon as possible. Special requests to pit near tents or friends are considered.

Reserved pit spaces are $50 each for the first two spaces and $65 each for three or more, e.g., three pit spots equals $165.00.

Man Cup engine seal notes for Daytona KartWeek
The new engine tagging system was implemented in all WKA Mazda / Bridgestone Manufacturers Cup Series classes throughout the 2012 season.

With the Daytona KartWeek Margay Sprint Championships nearing, we're taking a moment to note a few items that will make the engine tagging system work more efficiently at Daytona and through the 2013 season.

The drilled hole in all nuts and bolts should be chamfered and/or de-burred so that sharp edges cannot create damage to the sealing wire.

All bolt heads and sealing nuts must be drilled through. The sealing wire must pass through the head of the fastener. The holes in the head bolts should be positioned slightly above the end of the head studs to allow the wire to pass easily over the end of the stud. In the future, the sealing wire will be run in one side and out the other of the head nuts. Adding an extra washer under the nut can help to properly position the holes above the stud.

The use of a 16mm long bolt in the Yamaha ignition cover will allow adding two to three extra washers, thus allowing the head of the bolt to be lifted up from the cover. This will make it much easier to install the wire through the bolt head.

Also, please remember that it is the driver's (or mechanic's) responsibility to inspect the seals (chassis and engine) in the scale area. Any broken seals must be reported to the tech personnel BEFORE leaving the scale area. Broken seals reported after leaving the scale area will result in being placed in the rear for the next portion of the event.

REMINDER: Man Cup Yamaha Senior class running pipe at Daytona
The Yamaha Senior class, formerly known as Yamaha Supercan, is running the SR-Y Pipe and RLV 9110 Header at the Daytona KartWeek Margay Sprint Championships and throughout the 2013 WKA Man Cup season.

This notice is so there is no confusion at Daytona.

The SR-Y Pipe and RLV 9110 Header run with 1.750" connector tube - 9.5" from piston to end of connector tube.

This 2013 class rule change is listed on page 47 of the 2013 WKA Tech Manual. All current WKA master members either should have received their Tech Manuals or will receive them via U.S. Mail in the coming days.

Direct questions to WKA at 704-455-1606.
