Team News: ART Grand Prix America Set for SKUSA SuperNationals Debut

Less than two months after making their debut at the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, ART Grand Prix America is entering ten drivers in the biggest event of the year, the SKUSA Supernationals held at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. The race will welcome over 500 racers from all over the world for the Super Bowl of karting. The team is very happy to welcome four drivers being supported by the ART Grand Prix factory, three of which are established world champions, to the squad for the event. Spread out over four classes, ART Grand Prix America, will look to make its presence known by battling for podiums and victories in some of the toughest categories.

Leading the charge in the premier shifter class will be the British pilot Ben Hanley in KZ2(Superpro). Ben has had a very successful season, including podiums in the CIK-FIA World Championships in both KF1 and KZ1. The former GP2 driver will look to bring home the $10,000 check and more importantly the prestigious victory that has seen some of Europe’s top karters celebrate in the past.

The two classes most represented will be TAG Jr. and TAG Sr., each will see four drivers flying the ART Grand Prix colors. Both classes are two of the most competitive in the lineup with over 80 drivers looking to claim the top spot on the podium. In TAG Jr., Christian Muñoz will return with the team after a strong Lancaster Grand Prix and a successful last couple of months racing throughout Colombia and Mexico. Joining him will be Juan Jimenez. The Colombian has had a strong season and he will look to battle with the top juniors in the TAG category before then flying to Portugal to compete in the Rotax Grand Finals. In addition will be drivers Yifan Xia and Sergio Sette Camara. Camara is coming in with lots of momentum after winning the IAME World Finals in X30 Junior last month. In Sr., Andrew Wiener, David Martinez, Kevin Hernandez, and factory driver Charles Leclerc will look for Supernats glory. Wiener has been very strong over the last month doing the majority of the testing for the team and racing all over Southern California. Martinez and Hernandez have been preparing very intensely in Mexico for the event and will look to strongly solidify their place in this year’s main event. Multi-time world champion, including this season in KF2, Leclerc will look to add a Supernationals win to his impressive 2012 season.

Rounding out the stable of drivers is TAG Masters driver Steve Wiener, who will look to rebound from a tough last couple of years at the Vegas event with a strong run this year after lots of productive testing.

In addition to a strong driver lineup, ART Grand Prix America will see a very formidable group of mechanics and tuners. Team mechanics Colin McGinnis, Ty Matta, Cory Pollock, and Mike Razetto will be joined by those mechanics supplied by the factory, chassis designer Armando Fillini, and Starlane data representatives.

“I couldn’t be more excited for this year’s Supernationals! We have assembled an amazing group of drivers and mechanics, including those we’ve been able to secure from the factory. I think we will have a great chance to not only be on the podium, but compete for wins at the most prestigious event in North America. The combination of talent, the ART Grand Prix chassis, and D Power Racing powered engines will be one of the strongest in the paddock,” explained Team Manager Kyle Kuntze.

Everyone is encouraged to find ART Grand Prix America on Facebook and Twitter for updates throughout the entire event.

All team chassis will be available for sale following the event, including the special event chassis shipped over for the factory drivers. They can be taken home directly from the event. Stop by the tent for more information on how to acquire a team chassis.
