After an outstanding rookie season in the junior karting ranks, PSL Karting/CRG driver Austin Versteeg is set to take on the most demanding event on the 2012 calendar, the sixteenth running of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals. Competing against a record breaking 82 drivers from around the world in the ultra-competitive TaG Junior class, Versteeg has been busy preparing for the November 14-18 event, which will take place on a temporary circuit in the parking lot of the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In preparation for karting's biggest event, Versteeg recently spent time testing in Grand Junction, Colorado. Extensively testing two engines utilized during the 2011 edition of the SuperNats, where Versteeg earned a respectable 14th place result in the TaG Junior main event during his first race as a junior, the 13-year-old will be well prepared for next week's event.

Versteeg also enters as a SKUSA regional champion, and with that, a guaranteed spot in the final. Earning the 2012 Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge regional championship in the TaG Junior class, Versteeg will be able to use every on track session to focus on Super Sunday's main event and vie for the SuperNats crown.

The Sandy, Utah resident will arrive in Las Vegas next week, with the first on track practice sessions beginning Wednesday. Teaming with the potent Team PSL Karting on a championship-caliber CRG chassis, Versteeg will then take on qualifying and the first of three heats Friday, with the final two heats culminating Saturday. The rising talent will then get set for Super Sunday where he will battle for the TaG Junior race win and ultimate SuperNats glory.

After the SuperNationals, Versteeg will begin to finalize plans for his 2013 racing season, which already include select European karting events in Italy and testing in Verona at the CRG factory with his Canadian PSL Karting team.

Versteeg will also continue to utilize off weekends for testing and training at the brand new Nola Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. As the newest and largest track in North America, the Nola Motorsports Park will offer full Rotax / CRG support for Versteeg as he builds his strength and race craft and continues to impress in the junior ranks in 2012 and into 2013.

Austin races with the generous support of PSL Karting / CRG, ULV race gear, Activa Technology and Nola Motorsports Park. For more information on Austin Versteeg, please visit http://www.AustinVersteeg.com
