 | | Todd Olcott |
Todd Olcott, of Henderson, Nevada will take his racing team to the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino November 14th-18th to the top category of SuperPro/KZ2 for a chance to beat the world’s best kart racers at the SuperkartsUSA.com SuperNats 16. Formula 1, IndyCar and european racers normally comprise most of the field in this highly competitive class. The 47 year old has raced the SuperNats before, in 2008, and rebounded in the finals to finish in the middle of the field after a late night crash in a heat race earlier that week that put him at a major disadvantage to start the main event.
“We learned a lot that week back in 2008 and look forward to redeeming ourselves this year with newer equipment and more experience to help us at this event”. Although a former desert truck racer, Todd has been road course racing lately on courses like Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon), and Willow Springs International Raceway.
The speeds achieved at these places has definitely helped him become a better driver according to Olcott, “we GPS’d ourselves over 100 mph through the esses at Sonoma. Being an inch off the ground while going that fast has made us more comfortable with the equipment and dealing with other racers.”
With a brand new chassis, sponsorship from his own company, POOLiticallyCorrect.com and engine support from kart motor builder Darcy DeCoste, owner of DDR Racing. Todd plans on putting forth a first-class effort for this event. “It’s a FIVE DAY event, and we are totally prepared to give the competition the best we have” says Todd. Cheer for him in the #9 CRG go-kart in the finals on Super Sunday, November 18th. |
