Series News: Red Line Oil Karting Championships Season Finale Update

The 2012 RLOKC season will come to an end this coming Sunday at the Simraceway kart track at Sonoma Raceway. The track layout will be the long straightaway, National track layout just as the season began in April.

The 2012 season has seen about a 30% increase in entries this past year with three classes hitting all time highs in entries: Junior Rotax, Micro Max and Rotax Masters. The 125 Stock Honda Classes also came back strong this year and look to be strong in 2013. Going into this last race, the championships in only a couple of classes are set, but there are several classes where drivers have a lead but need a strong finish to keep the top spot in the class. In several classes, there are tight battles for 2nd through 5th positions. In Junior Rotax, there are eight drivers battling for the 2nd through 5th spots. Expect a lot of tough racing as drivers battle for top honors in the finale.

Pro Honda 125s will battle for $500 Cash. With the SKUSA event approaching, RLOKC has a strong group of NorCal drivers that will be racing at the event. We hope to attract a large field of these pros as a way for our drivers to prepare and give the other young RLOKC drivers a chance to watch some of the best drivers in the country race. (Bonus payment requires minimum 5 kart field).

All of the major classes have been a GoPro featured races this year, so at this event the GoPro featured class will be the class with the largest number of entries. The GoPro camera will then be given to one of the top 5 drivers in the Main using a drawing to determine the winner.

The prize giving is set for Saturday November 10th; more information BANQUET. Championship trophies and awards will be presented as defined in the RLOKC supplementary regulations. There are several exciting and valuable awards including several racecar testing opportunities!

Practice will be available from 10:00 to 5:00 on Saturday. Practice is $50 for the day and all karts are welcome to run practice as long as the drivers are veteran drivers and driving karts that meet current safety standards. All registration will be at the Old Jim Russell Admin building (to the right of the Sonoma Raceway Main Gate, behind the large wall). Registration will open Saturday at 8:00am and at 7:00am for Sunday. Sunday Raceday starts practice at 8:10 with racing beginning about 11:00. Race Entry fee is $100, $10 for transponder rental, $10 for each additional pit pass, $5 for kids under 12. Rotax National membership is required for all Rotax classes, cost is $45 and can be done at Registration. A one-race waiver of Rotax membership is given to all first time racers to the Rotax classes.
