Eight North American Drivers Heading Overseas for IAME International Final

IAME, one of the leading kart engine manufacturers in the world, will be hosting drivers from around the world with the running of the IAME International Final. Previously known as the Bruno Grana International Trophy event from 2009 to 2011, this year’s competition will bring in X30 drivers from five continents to determine the 2012 X30 World Champions in four different categories. The site of the 2012 event will be held at the Actua Circuit de Lyon in Lyon, France. Eight drivers will represent North America, all gunning for a chance to be crowned an X30 World Champion.

The four categories competing in this year’s event include X30 Senior, X30 Master, X30 Junior and X30 Shifter. Four drivers with vast experience will compete in the Senior category. Canadians Scott Hargrove and Adam Isman are the most experienced of the quartet. Both have plenty of karting under their belts, working with Italian Motors for a number of years, and each have open-wheel and sports car seat time. American Joel Jens and Jacob Duvall will join them. Jens is a WKA Triple Crown winner as a Junior driver, and has shown speed in a limited Senior schedule this past season. Duvall - from Florida - is the recently crowned X30 Senior champion in the WKA Gold Cup series. Russell Karting Specialties’ Jim Russell Jr. will lead the Master contingent. He finished second in last year’s event and has plans on returning to the podium once again. Canadian Ron Hyde and American James Derrig will join him in France. Both earned their trip to the IAME International Final through the Sumas International Motorsports Academy program in Sumas, Washington. The final driver on the roster is Junior driver Dustin Stross. The Florida pilot finished second in the WKA Gold Cup X30 Junior championship this past season.

Competitors are either in Europe already or making their way to France over the next few days. EKN has a few people working with us during the event to provide updates as the event unfolds, giving us information on the American and Canadian drivers competing. Thursday starts official on-track action with five practice sessions for all four classes. Friday provides three more practice sessions with qualifying wrapping up the day. Each driver will run three heat races on Saturday to set up the grids for Sunday’s Prefinal, which will lead into the Main Events Sunday afternoon. Updates will be published in the Official Discussion Thread and more information can be found at http://www.x30world.com/iame.international.final/ with live timing to streamed at http://www.savoiechrono.com
