SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14
The 2012 edition of the RoboPong 200 ended as quite possibly the most challenging race in the nine year history. The competition level was intense, and the changing weather conditions kept every team on its toes throughout the 200-mile race around the New Castle Motorsports Park in central Indiana. For the first time in event history, rain hit the area during the course of the event, throwing in a change-up from the typical race strategy formulated year after year. In the end, it was the young guns of Sam Beasley and Jacob Donald who took the checkered flag, scoring the $10,000 pay put up by NCMP and Mark Dismore, adding their names to the Dan Wheldon Cup.

The ninth edition of the RoboPong 200 officially got underway Saturday at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The New Castle, Indiana facility is full of competitors as 50 teams are taking on the 200-lap challenge around the 1-mile circuit, along with 20+ entries in two Yamaha categories, all racing for a $42,000 cash purse on the weekend put up by Mark Dismore and the NCMP facility. $10,000 of that will go to the team who is the quickest and avoids any issues to reach the checkered flag first, and have their names etched on the Dan Wheldon Cup.

PREVIEW
Racing is always about speed and endurance - and like the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, or the 24 Hours of Le Mans - both are needed to reach the finish line. The only event that can reach that can test man and equipment in United States karting is the RoboPong 200. The ninth running of the event will take place this weekend at the popular New Castle Motorsports Park, just 45 minutes east of Indianapolis, Indiana. Roughly 50 teams of 2 to 4 drivers from across the country will battle for 200 laps around the challenging 1-mile circuit aboard TaG powered karts, all fighting for a piece of the record $22,000 purse and to etch their names into the side of the Dan Wheldon Cup.
