As many of you know Sean Buur of Go Racing Magazine lost his mother in August 2011 to complications from her Multiple Sclerosis. For more than two decades she battled this terrible disease as it slowly ate away at her nervous system. Starr co-founded Go Racing Magazine and though MS took its physical toll, she refused to miss an opportunity to see everyone at the track, and pass out the magazine. MS doesn't get the media attention it deserves, but that doesn’t make it any less devastating. March is the national MS awareness month, but it receives little publicity. A good portion of the funding for MS research comes from fund raising efforts of individual people who champion the cause. Mike Mautner, a fellow karter and cyclist together with his team Raleigh Bicycle Warehouse are taking up the fight. They are riding for Sean's mom, Starrann Buur, Jim Bremmer’s wife, Joanna, and the many others we know though karting and biking that have been touched by MS.

“I've registered for the MS Bike Tour because I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed,” said Mautner on a training ride earlier this week. “Every dollar donated helps prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease.”

In a little over a week Mike is riding in the 30th annual Bike MS Bay to Bay Tour, riding his Raleigh bicycle 150 miles in a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He needs all our help. On October 20th and 21st, over 2,500 cyclists will raise $2.3 million dollars and ride together as one along Southern California’s coast (from Irvine to Mission bay in San Diego) bringing us closer to a world free of MS. The money raised from this event will fund continuing research to discover the cause and cure for multiple sclerosis. Equally important, it will also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.

As team captain, Mike's goal is to personally raise $4000, double his goal of last year.

YOU CAN JOIN HIM WITHOUT GETTING ON A BIKE...YOU CAN SPONSOR HIM. Your support, no matter what the amount, will benefit the hundreds of thousands fighting the MS battle.
