| Series News: Red Line Oil Karting Championship - Round 7 Report |
| |
Another large entry for the RLOKC with hard fought battles in all the classes for valuable Championship points. Steve Pugsley Jr, was injured (broken collarbone) in a nasty tumble during the Rotax Junior race, but is on the road to recovery. We hope he will be back racing soon. If you would like to send Steve a "get well" note we will be happy to forward those on. As most of you know Ric Shaw was unable to attend round 7 so the race report will not include Ric's amazing recounts of the day's racing!
GoPro Feature Race: Rotax Senior
The top three qualifiers were Sean McDonald, Jarrett Lile and Carlos Calderon. The first Pre-Main finishing order was McDonald, Nic LeDuc and Calderon. The second Pre-Main was a repeat of the first. The Main saw Nic LeDuc take the win and the GoPro Hero HD camera. Rounding out the podium were Sean McDonald and Jarrett Lile.
Junior Rotax
With a strong sixteen-kart field this was the toughest racing of the day. On Pole for the Pre-Mains was Alex Keyes. The finishing order in the first Pre-Main was Keyes, Michael Avansino, and Will Preston. In Pre-Main two, Keyes was followed by Wilson Skjervin and Toni Breidinger. In the Main, Alex Keyes continued to dominate the day by taking the win from Annie Breidinger and Skjerven, Skjerven making a great comeback after getting in airborne in Pre-Main two.
Mini Max, Micro Max
While the Micro Max field continues to grow, we also saw the return of some Mini max racers. Qualifying in Pole positions were Matteo Sandoval in Mini and Max Ellgen taking Micro. The results in the first Pre-Main were Matteo Sandoval and Caleb Daniells in Mini Max, while in Micro Max it was Gino Sandoval, Dakota White and Max Ellgen. In Pre-Main two the Mini Max order remained, with Sandoval and Daniells, while in Micro, Max Ellen moved ahead of Dakota White with Gino again taking the win. The Main was a family affair with the Sandoval brothers winning both in Mini Max and Micro Max. Daniells finished 2nd in Mini Max in his first visit to the track after traveling all the way from Washington State. The Micro Max finishing order again changed with White in 2nd and Race 6 winner Aidan O'Neill 3rd.

Rotax Masters
Qualifying was close but Rob Soares took Pole from David Carlisle and Scott Ripslinger, all three within half a second. Pre-Main one finished with the same top three as in Qualifying, but Ripslinger moved past Carlisle for 2nd while Soares won. In Pre-Main two, Soares took the win with Carlisle and Ripslinger again trading spots, this time with Carlisle in 2nd. Donald Durbin Jr had come from the last starting position in both Pre-Mains to finish fourth passing nine karts in eight laps! The Main was a battle for the win between Soares and Durbin, in the end Durbin took the win by a small one second margin. Scott Ripslinger finished 3rd ahead of Billy Scott with a gap of only 3/10ths of a second.
Rotax DD2 Masters
Dave Palic was the lone representative in this class. Dave has been a strong supporter of this class but needs some competition! We know there are more out there. Blow off the cobwebs and come and race with Dave.
80 Honda Masters
Qualifying was vey tight with four karts within half a second. Charles Hastings came away with Pole from Roger Cornwall and Bob Lesnett. The Pre-Main one finishing order was Cornwall from Lesnett 2nd and Tom Nelson 3rd. The finishing order was unchanged in Pre-Main two. Hastings dominated the day by winning the Main, Lesnett held on for another 2nd place and Cornwall returned the podium in 3rd ahead of Nelson.
IAME Tag & Tag Jr
Ten karts made up the TaG field, two of those being TaG Juniors. Overall Pole and Tag Jr Pole went to Alex Keyes with Joe Morton 2nd in Tag Jr. Don Rocci took Pole for IAME Tag, Bryson Guzman and Darrin Geahry rounded out the top three in IAME. Pre-Main one went to Keyes in Jr and Guzman in IAME, Rocci 2nd and Josh Buttafoco 3rd. Keyes and Guzman continued their dominance in Pre-Main two, Buttafoco moving up to 2nd and Geahry 3rd in IAME. In the final it was all Keyes and Guzman, the battles were for the runner up spots. At the checker it was Geahry beating out Buttafoco for the second place.

Stock Honda 125 Pro and Masters
A good field of fourteen karts turned out, especially considering the SKUSA event in Lancaster was on the same weekend! Pole Potions went to Brett Buckwalter in Pro and Jim Inglebright in Masters. Pre-Main one results were Jason Toft, Buckwalter and Ryan Rasberry in Pro. Inglebright took the Masters win over Patrick O'Neill and Jonathon Allen. Toft was the Pro winner in Pre-Main two from Buckwalter with Jamie Wilson moving up to 3rd. Masters saw a big change with Inglebright having problems, Dave Arnstein took the win from Allen and Andre Eriksen 3rd. Toft was in command for the Main taking a strong win over Buckwalter and Rasberry. The Masters race though produced all kinds of drama. Once again Inglebright showed his championship form by taking the win, O'Neill 2nd and Ericksen 3rd after multiple position changes throughout the pack.
