Congratulations to Nicky Defronzo for his win in Tag 2. The CRG Midwest drivers knew they had their work cut out for them at NCMP. In addition to the stout 66 racers, there would be many national drivers attending to tune up for the Grand Nationals the next weekend.

On Saturday Nicky DeFronzo qualified his CRG Black Star in 16th position in Tag 1. In the prefinal he advanced to 4th and finished 7th. A clutch bearing would end Nicky’s day on lap 5 of the final and he would finish 14th. In 2nd place in the championship in Tag 2, Nicky knew he’d have to step up his game. On Sunday he qualified in 5th place in Tag 2. The prefinal saw him advance to 2nd place and a front row starting spot for the final. The start of the final saw Nicky jump to the lead, but Crepin was able to work by to lead lap 1. Lap 2 saw Hawley push Nicky to the lead, dropping Crepin to 3rd. Hawley would work to the point on lap 6 but Nicky would muscle back the lead with a bold pass in turn 4. He went unchallenged the rest of the race and took the checkered flag for his second win in Tag 2.

Jimmy Clark qualified his CRG KT1 3rd in Supercan heavy. In the prefinal he got hung out to dry in the highway turn dropping him to 11th. He fought back to finish 9th. The final saw Jimmy advance to 6th. Not happy with his performance on Saturday, Jimmy went to work on his kart. Marcus took the lead in the highway turn bringing Ramsey with him. Jimmy pushed Ramsey to the win and finished 3rd. Jimmy leads the championship points in both Yamaha classes but it will all be decided the last race in Springfield.

Michael Paterno qualified his CRG Cadet 3rd in Yamaha Sportsman. Contact in lap 3 of the prefinal would give him a dnf. Starting from the back, Michael would work his way up to 15th by lap 5. Contact would again take him out and he would finish 20th.Micheal qualified 7th in Komet sportsman. He dropped to last on the start of the prefinal then moved forward to finish 14th.
