| Industry News: National Karting Alliance Hires Mike Burrell as Chief Operating Officer |
| |
National Karting Alliance (NKA), one of the leading pit pass programs (TrakPASS) and track services providers in US karting, has hired Mike Burrell for the newly established position of Chief Operating Officer. Burrell has been involved in karting since 1991 and is best known as the former writer and editor of National Kart News magazine between 2004 and 2011. Additionally, he brings a wealth of karting technical knowledge and professional motorsports experience to NKA.
“Mike worked with us late last year in developing TrakBOOK (NKA’s competition rulebook), and we’re fortunate to be in a position to grow the company and have Mike come on board,” stated NKA President Joe Janowski.
“NKA is unique versus other US karting ‘sanctioning bodies’ as our primary focus is not to promote our own races,” continues Janowski. “Our success is directly related to the success of our member tracks, and having someone here to work directly with the tracks on what they can do locally will really help grow and stabilize that base of club/local karitng.”
The adoption of TrakBOOK by tracks and clubs has been rapidly expanding, and part of Burrell’s responsibilities will be maintaining TrakBOOK and communicating with current and potential users of the free rules package. Burrell will also be responsible for working with NKA member tracks in developing safety initiatives, media exposure, marketing packages, and other opportunities to improve and grow their businesses as a whole.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity with NKA,” said Burrell. “It will be challenging and exciting as we’re basically starting with a ‘blank sheet’ and saying ‘what can we do to improve and grow karting?’ Joe and I have a very similar vision on where karting should be/needs to be: the sport’s success is built at the local level on up, and that’s where we’re focused our support.”
NKA is a 27-year old company best known for providing pit pass programs and other track services to karting facilities nationwide. The NKA has over 300 member tracks from coast-to-coast. For more information on NKA visit http://www.nkaonline.com or feel free to call 317.774.7021. |
