Top Kart drivers in North America had a busy month of August with three major events taking place. On the docket was WKA in Norway, Rotax Grand Nationals in South Bend, and street racing in Rock Island. Each weekend saw Top Kart drivers either winning or finishing on the podium.

The fifth round of the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup was held at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway. Top Kart once again dominated the TaG categories win every final but one. Mason Chelootz won Parilla Leopard and TaG 2 while Scott Ferris won both TaG Masters Finals. Chris Wehrheim had a successful weekend finishing second in both TaG finals and thus taking the championship lead in both categories. John Ferris finished on the podium in both TaG Masters finals helping extend his points lead. Chelootz also went on to win both Komet finals locking up the championship in Komet Heavy. Multiple other drivers scored top ten and podium results including Kaden Harter (sportsman), Garret Johnston (junior), Jake Johnston (junior), Killian Keaveny (junior), Ryan Raffa (junior) & Mark Boos (senior).

As the WKA event concluded the team headed from Norway to South Bend that night for the start of the US Rotax Grand Nationals on Monday. Two drivers represented Top Kart at the event. Mason Chelootz and Phil De La O raced in the Senior Max category. The weekend was unpredictable with on and off rain showers all weekend keeping the mechanics and drivers guessing. Qualifying was on a wet, but drying track and Chelootz qualified in 11th and De La O in 18th. After all the heats Mason would start seventh for the prefinal, but unfortunately fell back one spot finishing in eighth. De La O was able to move up to 21st after having to race in the LCQ. In the final Chelootz drove a solid race moving up to sixth while De La O was involved in an incident forcing him to retire.

Labor Day weekend marks the biggest street race in the United States, the Rock Island Grand Prix. Mason Chelootz was entered in three classes, winning two. Killian Keaveny won Yamaha Junior and finished fifth in TaG Junior. New to Top Kart John Dixon finished second in TaG Masters.

“We continue to have great results in all classes with drivers on both the Twister and the Speedy,” commented Grand Products owner Mike Tetreault. “Now are focus is on winning multiple titles in the Manufacturer’s Cup, the constructors title, and the SKUSA SuperNationals where we will fight for wins and championships.”
