Industry News: Ocala Gran Prix to Provide Over $8,000 in Awards at FKCS Banquet

With the only event left on the 2012 Florida Karting Championship Series schedule set for this weekend, Ocala Gran Prix has once again stepped up to the plate to present an array of awards and 'OGP Dollars' at the end of the season banquet. In conjunction with the FKCS Charity Race with proceeds going to the Victory Junction Camp, Ocala Gran Prix has donated the use of their facility for the race as well as put $8850.00 up for grabs at the banquet set for Saturday night.

"The teams, drivers and families that compete in the FKCS program are very professional and are the main reason that the series continues to grow year after year," expressed OGP President Jorge Arellano. "I like to help out the karting community and give back to the sport. There is nothing better to see award winners faces light up when they hear their name called or ticket drawn at the banquet."

Continually providing awards to the Florida Karting Championship Series, Ocala Gran Prix began donating prizes and 'OGP Dollars' to the series in 2009. Providing $4025.00 the first year, OGP and Jorge Arellano increased that amount for the two consecutive years to $4300.00 and $4700.00. Enter 2012 and the biggest series supporter since it's inception has again increased the donated amount to a whopping $8850.00 for a total of $21,875.00 in the past four seasons.

While the money amount isn't the only thing that Ocala Gran Prix provides this weekend, Jorge Arellano opens up his facility to help raise funds for the Victory Junction Camp. Allowing anyone and everyone to register and race the rental karts, FKCS and OGP put on a Mom's race, Dad's race, Mechanic's race and reverse steering oval event with all the funds raised going to charity. Providing the equipment, corner workers and track free of charge, Arellano asks for nothing in return.

"I understand how expensive karting can be at times and how tough it can be for a series to make it in today's economy," explained Arellano. "I have the ability to offer such items and try and further series for an even better year in 2013."
