The first goal of the 2012 season is coming to a close this weekend for 18-year old driver Sabré Cook as she looks to lock up the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto championship. The final two rounds of the six race championship will be contested at her home track of Grand Junction Motor Speedway in Colorado. A continuation of her podium streak could secure the championship for the CRG-USA pilot.

Entering the last two rounds, Sabré leads the standings by 65 points, with the best five results counted toward the final championship standings. The series began with Cook settling for a third place finish after contact while leading in the opening race. She then followed it up with a solid victory in day two. Cook was among the quickest at the second stop - Miller Motorsports Park in Utah where many SKUSA Pro Tour competitors visited in preparation for the SummerNationals. Cook gained valuable points in day one, qualifying on the pole position and scoring a second place finish and a third place finish on day two.

Sabré is currently leading the SKUSA Pro Tour S2 championship standings as well. Scoring two impressive runner-up finishes in Phoenix putting her on top of the Championship standings. Cook entered the SummerNationals back in July as the championship leader. Nearly pulling off her first Pro Tour victory on Saturday with another full day running up front, she looked to have the pace for a win Sunday until a loose carburetor slowed her pace and eventually forced her to retire. Cook hopes to finish the season with victory at the SKUSA Super Nationals and the Pro Tour Championship.

Cook recently took part at the United States Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals at the Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana. Visiting the circuit for the first time, and making her debut aboard a DD2 Rotax-powered machine, Cook nearly came away with a podium finish and a spot on Team USA for the Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal. Qualifying seventh in wet conditions, Cook managed to gain another spot through the three heat races to start the Prefinal sixth. During one of the hardest rainfalls of the week, Cook moved up to second before a spin dropped her to a third place finish. At the start of the Final, Cook fell back to fifth and continued to fight her way forward once again. Lap after lap, she pressured the defending national champion for the third position. Racing very clean and not forcing any low-percentage passing maneuvers, she was unable to take the position and ended up in fourth. Her plan now is to compete at the Pan American Challenge Championship event, set for The Track at Centennial in Colorado, where the winner will be award a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals.

Cook would like to thank her racing support program; CRG-USA, Grand Junction Motor Speedway, K1 RaceGear, MG Tires, SRS Engines, Zamp Helmets, Xtreme Colors Helmet Painting, Alpine Bank, Gold’s Gym, JH Precision Machine, Enstrom’s Candies, Leatt.
