Leaving the Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) facility early Sunday morning, both Alex and Mikey Hornborg had completed their final preparations for the upcoming United States Rotax Grand Nationals. Taking place in at the Jet Karting of Michiana Raceway Park facility in northern, Indiana, Alex will fight in a talented field of Rotax Junior drivers while Mikey will see action in Rotax Mini Max as he enters his first Grand National event.

Finishing up final prep this past weekend at Ocala Gran Prix, both Alex and Mikey took to the track to break in some fresh OGP prepared Rotax motors. With new karts being prepared this week ahead of the annual event, a fresh package will hit the track on Monday, August 6th at the tricky eleven-corner facility. With Team USA invitations on the line for Rotax Junior, Senior, DD2 and DD2 Masters, wheel-to-wheel action is sure to be fierce as drivers battle hard for the opportunity to represent their country in Portugal later this year.

"I am really looking forward to getting to Indiana and competing in the Junior class," expressed Alex Hornborg. "I feel that working with the Ocala Gran Prix team and a few different tuners this year, I have learned a lot and improved on my race craft. I can't wait for the event."

Alex's younger brother Mikey added, "This will be my first Rotax Grand National appearance and I am looking to gain as much experience as possible. The Mini Max class has a ton of talented drivers that have competed all over the world so I am looking to have the chance to run with them as well as challenge for a strong finish."

Alex is coming off a strong conclusion to the North Florida Rotax Max Challenge and Florida Karting Championship Series programs where he battled for wins at both events. Mikey, who suffered a broken arm at the second round of the Florida Winter Tour in February, has rebounded nicely and managed to secure a solid top five result in Jacksonville, Florida just a few short weeks ago. Both drivers are primed and ready to hit the track in Indiana.

"This season has been a little bit of a roller coaster ride for us," expressed Mike Hornborg, father of both Alex and Mikey. "With on track incidents as well as some bad racing luck hindering our main event results, we are hoping to continue the momentum gained in the past couple events. The US Rotax Grand Nationals is an event that all Rotaxians aim at to do well at and that is a very high goal for us as well."
