May
The D Power Racing team showed exceptional results throughout the month of May at multiple events.
The D Power Racing team headed out to Willow Springs, California on May 5th and 6th for the second round of the IKF Region 7 series. Only three drivers represented the D Power brand that weekend, Willy Axton, Travis Lowe and Andrew Weiner, but each driver shined throughout the event.
On Saturday, Willy Axton captured the PRD Jr. pole by almost two tenths of a second. He then followed that up by taking victories in each of the two heat races, setting himself up to start on pole for the main. From the start of the main event, Axton was in control and walked away to a one and a half second victory.
D Power drivers, Travis Lowe and Andrew Weiner, competed in the highly contested Tag Sr. class. In qualifying, Weiner captured the pole position while Lowe struggled and could only pull off a sixth place starting spot. Lowe was able to work his way up to the second place position by the end of the second heat, whereas Weiner found victory in both of the heat races. At the drop of the green flag, Weiner had some difficulty and slowly fell back where he would eventually end up in sixth place. By lap three, Lowe was in the lead. Never looking back, Lowe was able to bring home a first place finish.
On Sunday, Travis Lowe was the only D Power entry in the PRD Sr. class. He was able to sweep all the action throughout the day by bringing home the pole, the win in both heat races, and eventually the win in the main event by two and a half seconds over Lloyd Mack.
On May 18th and 19th, the D Power Racing team attended the third round of the SKUSA! PKC California series at the world famous Adams Motorsports Park. D Power showed up with six drivers battling it out in Tag Masters, Tag Sr., and Tag Jr.
The action started off with Vatche Tatikian qualifying third in Tag Masters. Tatikian finished heat one in third place, but due to an incident he was not able to finish the second heat, and ended up in eighth position. After starting from the back of the pack in the main event, Tatikian was able to work his way all the way up to a solid fourth place finish.
Tag Jr. was next up to bat and Noah Grey was waving the D Power banner in this fight. He qualified third but sadly, a DNF in the first heat sent him to the back of the pack. By the end of the second heat Grey was able to work his way up into the tenth position giving him a fighting chance for the main. Grey was on the move from the drop of the green flag where he quickly worked his way up to fourth place, while setting the fastest lap before the checkered flag flew.
A total of five drivers competed under the D Power brand in the Tag Sr. class. At the end of qualifying Travis Lowe captured the pole position, Devin Lindsey took second, Kevin Hernandez was in third, Shawn Cricca was in fifth, and Mason Daughters was in eighth. At the end of heat one, D Power had taken over first through fourth with Lindsey, Hernandez, Cricca, and Daughters in that order while Lowe had a DNF due to a mechanical issue. Heat two was another successful run for D Power with all five of their drivers placing in the top six. D Power dominated the main event with Lindsey taking home the victory, Lowe in second, and Hernandez in third, giving D Power the entire podium to themselves.
June
The month of June continued to be successful for the D Power Racing Engine brand as their team competed in the IKF Region 7 series, SKUSA! Pro Kart Challenge California and Southern California’s Tri-C karters club.
The D Power Racing team headed out to round three of the IKF Region 7 series at Apex Raceway on June 2nd and 3rd. Only three drivers, Willy Axton, Travis Lowe, and Andrew Weiner, flew the D Power banner once again but success was still achieved.
Saturday’s action started off with Willy Axton in PRD Jr. grabbing the pole position in qualifying and going on to take a victory in the first heat race. He finished second in the second heat, which gave him an outside starting spot for the main. Axton was not denied in the main event; he walked away to an almost four second lead to take home the victory in PRD Jr.
In Tag Sr., Travis Lowe and Andrew Weiner set off to have yet another stellar weekend. In qualifying, Lowe grabbed the pole by almost three tenths of a second, and Weiner’s fastest lap was good enough for a 5th place starting spot. In both heat races, Lowe finished first and Weiner ended up in third. The main event was Lowe’s race from the drop of the green and from there on out he never relinquished his lead. Lowe ended up taking the victory, as well as setting fast lap. Weiner had a strong run and was able to beat out Mike Herda for a solid second place finish.
On Sunday, Lowe was the only driver holding down a D Power racing engine in the PRD Sr. class. At the end of qualifying Lowe was sitting in sixth place with a lot of work to be done. He moved up to fourth in heat one and worked his way up to second in heat two. At the start of the main event, Lowe slid into second behind Lloyd Mack and challenged Mack for the lead early on but there was nothing he could do. Lowe ended up taking home a third place trophy for his efforts.
D Power and Andrew Weiner set out to continue on their success at the Tri-C club race in the Rotax Sr. class. Weiner and the D Power brand did not fail and they were able to beat out the competition to bring home the victory.
On June 22nd and 23rd the best of the best in California headed out to ButtonWillow Raceway for round four of the SKUSA! PKC California series. Once again D Power had drivers in all of the major Tag divisions and were able to attain success in each.
Noah Grey started off the weekend strong with a fast lap in Tag Jr. that was good enough to reward him with the pole position in qualifying. He went on to win the first heat and ended up third in the second heat. The main event saw Grey in an intense battle up front, and although he couldn’t gain victory, he ended up in a solid fifth place finish.
Up next was Tag Masters with Vatche Tatikian battling it out with a strong field. Tatikian qualified fifth, and was up to third in the first heat until a mechanical took him out of the race. He was able to fight back in the second heat with a strong run all the way back up to fifth place, salvaging his chances at victory. In the main event, Tatikian made it up to fourth and was looking strong before a broken flex ended his weekend.
Tag Sr. was yet another highly successful class for D Power with drivers Travis Lowe, Mason Daughters, Devin Lindsey, Shawn Cricca, Andrew Weiner, and John Wallace all competing with D Power racing engines. In qualifying, Lowe grabbed fifth place, Daughters seventh, Cricca ninth, Weiner tenth, Lindsey twelfth, and Wallace seventeenth. After some successful adjustments, all D Power racing drivers moved up in the first heat with Daughters in fifth, Lowe in sixth, Weiner in seventh, and Lindsey in ninth and Wallace twelfth. In heat two, the D Power drivers showed the same success with Lowe finishing fourth, Daughters fifth, Weiner sixth, and Cricca eight, Lindsey twelfth and Wallace thirteenth. The main event was a barnburner with conflict happening all over the track. Although Lindsey and Walter got caught up in the attrition and DNF the main event, Daughters capitalized on all the action and walked away with his first PKC victory. Weiner came home in fourth with his best PKC result yet and Lowe ended up with a fifth place finish.
With hard work, dedication, and a love for their craft, it’s no wonder D Power has achieved success in all aspects of the karting industry. With their exceptional results, D Power Racing engines is constantly looking to grow and succeed.
