| Tri-Cities Kart Club Hosts 2012 IKF 4 Cycle Grand Nationals |

For the second time in three years, the Tri-Cities Kart Club in Richland , Washington was selected to host one karting’s largest and most prestigious events the International Karting Federation 4 Cycle Grand Nationals. In relative terms, this is the equivalent to the Indy or Daytona 500 for automobiles. This year’s National event will sponsored by CORE DEVELOPMENT & CONSTRUCITON from Richland , Washington.
The event will take place at Horn Rapids Raceway in Richland , Washington one of the Tri City area towns in eastern Washington . The Tri- Cities Kart Club was chosen two years ago to host karting’s national championships, and went thru a substantial remodel to prepare for the event in 2010. The facility is one of the tops in the nation complete with a paved and powered pit area, beautiful spectator area, huge concessions, and covered eating and pre-grid area’s. It also has a covered scale and tech area both complete with all the necessary tooling for the technical aspect of the event. It is one of the few facilities that has a drivers lounge complete with showering facilities. It without question is a five star racing facility.
The race track is has two configurations a short 5/8’s mile configuration and a long7/8’s of a mile configuration used for national caliber events. It has eight turns, and is a fast, free flowing rhythm track that always has racers coming back for more. The infield is immaculate, with manicured well maintain grass with plenty of run off should one have to quickly exit if things get to heated. Slight up hill and down hill areas just out of turns one and two keep things interesting for the drivers and spectators a like.
The official opening day of the event is Wednesday July 11 though Saturday July 14, with qualifying getting under way at 11 am starting Thursday July 12. ALL current IKF 4 cycle classes are being offered and governed by the current IKF rule docket. IKF National elected officials will be on hand over seeing the event and handling all technical event inspection. Typically the Grand Nationals sees entries in 250 to 350 ranges, with competitors representing states from all over the United States and Canada.
It is open to all competitors who have met the required qualifying requirements, and will age from 8 to 80 and is very family oriented.
Admission is Free for spectators in the general admission area, for spectators who want to get real close to the action several different price structures are available starting from a one day pass to passes that are good for the entire event. This is a one of kind event, with the ability for fans to get up close and personal with the participants, and healthy safe place to bring friends and family to enjoy some the finest racing that you will see anywhere, by anybody.
