| Industry News: K1 Racegear - Jerry Henderson & Jordan Robertson |
| |
As the IKF Grand Nationals approaches next week in Fresno, California, K1 RaceGear sponsored drivers Jerry Henderson and Jordan Robertson have been busy prepping for this coveted event. Sitting half way through the season, both drivers have been battling some gremlins for the last couple of months. Jordan has shown that he is very capable of running the pace of the top drivers but setup or mechanical issues have kept him from running up front in the mains with his new Tony Kart Chassis, Jerry has had a couple of mechanical issues as well from the last two events keeping him out of contention.
“Set up seems to be the key and we are still learning this new chassis and where it likes to be happy as we travel to different events,” stated Robertson. “I have confidence in my tuner and driving coach Jerry Henderson, along with our engine program and once we have everything working in sync I hope to be running up front.”
Jerry Henderson added “This has been a stong learning year for Jordan and Robertson Racing, I’m starting to see a lot of the hard practice pay off for them as Jordan has become a stronger more competitive driver. Once he gets it all together he will be fast and right up there in front with the rest of us.”
Most recently at the last IKF race in Perris, California, both Jordan and Jerry were both competing in the Spec PRD class and found themselves on the grid for the main with Jerry starting 7th and Jordan in 10th, each just 8 tenths off the lead respectfully. They both got a good start and began to make their way through the field until lap three, Jerry and got tangled with another kart and went off track. Jerry was able to re-enter but the damage he sustained forced him to end his day early.
Jordan continued going forward and was in a great battle for 7th , each time Jordan was passed, he would retake the position. Robertson refusing to give up battling back and forth with the other driver putting on a great display of driving skill and would hang onto his qualifying spot to finish inside the top ten for the weekend. A post-race inspection found in issue with the carburetor, which may have been the cause for the kart to not perform the way Robertson Racing had hoped.
Both Jerry and Jordan will be racing in IKF TAG Senior on day one. Jordan will also try his hand at competing in the ROTAX Max Senior on day two, and continuing with his main focus the Senior PRD race on day three.
All in all, both drivers are looking forward to putting everything together and getting podium results at the Grand Nationals.
Jerry Henderson is sponsored by Mike Manning Karting and K1 RaceGear.
Jordan is currently sponsored by Motul, K1 Racegear and receives engine support from Mike Manning Karting and Terry Nash of Hyper Engines. |
