EKN Constructors Championship - May 29, 2012

The second edition of the eKartingNews.com Constructors Championship has been tabulated and now released. The CRG has jumped into the number one position in the standings, holding now a 62 point advantage over 2011 EKN CC champions Tony Kart and the 2010 title winners Arrow. Just two events were recorded since the debut release of the 2012 EKN CC standings - the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals and Round #3 of the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series. They would prove to be a big impact on the current standings, especially at the top.

In Phoenix for the opening rounds of the 2012 SKUSA Pro Tour series, the CRG brand recorded the highest weekend point total (248) thanks to a strong shifterkart contingent and the new EKN CC point format. CRG claimed three wins (Fritz Leesmann, Joey Wimsett, Curtis Cooksey), in addition to 11 other podium finishes. Kosmic had a strong showing as they recorded the second highest total of the event (100 points). Luke Selliken earned two wins while Utah drivers Cody Tracy and Eddie Olpin each earned a victory. Arrow scored the third highest total of the weekend, riding on the two wins by Paul Bonilla and a shifterkart win with Billy Musgrave behind the wheel.

At the newly named Pittsburgh International Race Complex (formerly BeaveRun), Top Kart earned the most points to help them move up the standings. With five victories between Mason Chelootz, Chris Wehrheim, and Scott Ferris added to other podium finishes, the blue brand scored 40 points and currently leads the WKA Manufacturer Championship Standings. Tony Kart gained two wins thanks to Junior driver Ashley Rogero and was second on the weekend. Birel was third on the weekend, earning two wins behind Brandon Adkins and Patrick Olsen.

Following the SKUSA Pro Tour weekend, CRG moves into the number one spot. Tony Kart drops to second and Arrow is down to third. The top three have a solid distance ahead of the other brands and the title should come down to those three. Intrepid remains fourth while Top Kart advances to fifth. Kosmic moves to sixth as Birel falls to seventh over PCR, Merlin and now Parolin completing the top-10.

EKN Constructors Championship Guidelines
The EKN Constructors Championship calculation process includes the top-five finishers in each recognized class (Senior-Master-Junior classes). The SKUSA Pro Tour, US Rotax Grand Nationals, and Pan American Challenge will earn points with the following structure; 1st=20 points, 2nd=16 points, 3rd=12 points, 4th=8 points, 5th=4 points. The remaining events will continue to be awarded with the previous ranking system; with first place earning five (5) points down to fifth place earning one (1) point for each category. There is a minimum of 10 starting entries for the class points to be counted toward the season total in the EKN CC standings.
