| Track News: Michiana Raceway Park Has Active Summer Ahead |

With an already packed schedule of local, regional and national events, Michiana Raceway Park continues to improve their facility to offer more to racing enthusiasts and future drivers in the Michiana region. Recent track updates including widening of the front straight and improvements in the paddock have been made to improve safety on and off the track. The facility is also host to MRP Speed Schools, providing training, coaching and seminars to those interested in learning more about karting or karters that want to improve their skills.
“The track improvements are important to the growth of our karting region,” said Garry Lobaugh, owner of the facility. “We are always trying to improve the experience families have at the facility and what we can offer them in both fun and safety. We have a great new relationship with Jet Karting, who is managing the day-to-day operations of the facility, the on-site pro shop and operating the league events and local racing series, so we also were motivated to improve their ability to service the many racers that visit from all over the country.
The schedule for this summer is one of the busiest of any karting facility nationwide, with nearly every karting sanctioning body having a major event being hosted by the facility, including the 2012 United States Rotax Grand Nationals.
“Without a doubt you will not find another karting facility schedule this packed full of major karting events,” continued Lobaugh. “The facility stays open for practice often and enjoys one of the most well attended local karting schedule as well, so I am sure participation will continue to increase. For local racing enthusiasts or young families looking for activities, it means an opportunity to really get involved.”
MRP Speed Schools, one of the most popular karting schools in the country, utilizes Michiana Raceway Park often as a location for their karting clinics, schools and training programs.
“We have a variety of programs ranging from complete introduction to karting to data acquisition and advanced coaching to help prepare drivers for national competition,” said Marc Miller, Advanced Instructor for MRP Speed Schools. “Karting is a dynamic sport and for newcomers and experienced racers, there is always something new to learn so we work very hard to offer programs that can shorten the learning curve and create a more fun and productive experience.”
