Event News: Florida Karting Championship Series - Andersen Race Park Report

Race weekend number four for the Florida Karting Championship Series, took the series to the Andersen Race Park in Palmetto, Florida, featuring thirteen turns and just over a half mile road course. With another very good turnout of karts and some great points battles at stake, Saturday drivers would be able to qualify and get all the Pre-Finals in on dry tires, and getting in the Box Stock Sr. feature in on dry tires, then the skies would open up with heavy rains, Rotax Mini Max raced on rain tires and by the time the race was completed, the track was under water and that would end the day. Sunday racing would continue to see some on and off showers, but that wouldn’t stop some very good racing on rain tires.

Kid Karts: The stars of tomorrow! The kid karts had another great turn out this weekend with eight karts in the field, Chase Heffner, Lucas Rodriguez, Akela Pacitto, Jeremy Fletcher, Mathias Freebury, Alessandro De Tullio, Valentino Mini and Gabriella Rameriz, all of these drivers continue learn and grow and continue to work toward the next class.

Box Stock Senior:In the fourteen lap final, just six karts took the green flag with Joey Miller on the pole, Miller wasting no time heading for another win. By the halfway point Miller would open up a two second lead and would go on to score his third straight win in three races. Second was Doug Moff and third was Glenn Fichter, tying his best finish of the season. Pre-Final winner was Miller with second going to Moff and third it was Nic Hill. In qualifying, Miller set fast time with a lap of 51.687-second.

Rotax Mini Max: In the final, the skies would open up with heavy rain, which would put the drivers on rain tires. Fourteen karts took the green with Olivier Bellanger on the pole. Right off the start we would see a great three kart battle between Bellanger, Michael Benyahia and Ruben Grillet. Grillet would get the lead in lap six and hold that position until the final turn as Bellanger would pull up to the outside of both Grillet and Benyahia for the pass and would make it photo finish win. Bellanger picked up his second win of the season, second was Benyahia and Grillet in third. In the Pre-Final, Bellanger took the win, second was Benyahia and third went to Christian Cole. Mathias Ramirez set fast time in qualifying with time of 46.610-second.

Rotax Micro Max: Ian Keel took the win in the Pre-Final, with his brother Aidan Keel picking up second and third going Nicholas Brueckner. In qualifying Ian Keel, had a quick lap of 49.545-second.

Rotax Senior: In the Pre-Final, Nick Neri scored the win going wire to wire, finishing second was Jonathan Kotyk and third it was Andrew Evans. Neri set quick time of 45.345-second in qualifying.

KPP Junior: Ashley Rogero took the win in the Pre-Final, with Derek Sobel picking up second and third going Austin Jordan. In qualifying, Rogero had the quick lap of 46.126-second.

TaG Cadet: The Pre-Final the win went to Nicholas Brueckner with Seve DePinto grabbing second and third went to Mayo Livingston. Mayo Livingston set the fast time of 48.178-second in qualifying.

TaG Junior: Pre-Final win went to Oliver Askew, Alex Hornberg finished second and coming home third was Colin Warren. In qualifying, Askew had fast time with a 44.532-second, which was also a new track record.

TaG Masters: The Pre-Final win, went to Scott Roberts, Francois Brun-Wibaux was second and third was Brad Sanders. Jason Heffner set fast time in qualifying with a time of 45.858-second, the only driver to get in the 45 second bracket.

Box Stock Junior 1: In the Pre-Final, it was AJ McKinney taking the win, second going to Nash Duyn and third it was Hunter Padilla. Picking up fast time in qualifying was Padilla with a time of 51.652-second.

Box Stock Junior: Pre-Final winner was Katie Kirkpatrick, with second going to Benjamin Withers and third it was Emily Boddy. In qualifying, Kirkpatrick set fast time with a lap of 52.700-second.

Rotax Master: In the fourteen lap final, Scott Roberts started on the pole, with John Dalton outside row one, by the time the field would get around for lap one Roberts would open up a quick lead, and would prove to be too strong for the field. Roberts would go on for the wire-to-wire win, getting his third win of the season, second going to Jason Heffner and third was Dalton matching his best finish of the season. In the Pre-Final, the winner was Roberts with second going to Dalton and third was George Gamble. In qualifying, drivers were on rain tires, fast time went Gamble with a time of 58.776-second.

Rotax Junior: In the final, twenty-one karts were in the field, with Sebastian Sierra on the pole. Quickly coming from row two was Antoni Ptak as he would get the lead and waste no time checking out on the field by the halfway point. He would have a 1.7-second lead and would go on his first win of the season. The battle would be for second and would come down to the final lap where Oliver Askew would hold on for second and third going to pole sitter Sierra. Darren Keane took the win in the Pre-Final with second going to Antoni Ptak and third it was Benjamin Auriemma. Sierra set fast time in qualifying with a time of 55.645-second.

TaG: There was a pretty good turn out in the TaG class, with eighteen karts taking the green flag. Jonathan Kotyk was on the the pole with Nick Neri starting from outside row one. Both drivers would break away and would exchange the lead four times until lap fourteen when Neri would get into the leader Kotyk, causing Neri to drop back to fourth. That’s where he would finish as Kotyk would get his first win of the season breaking Neri's string of three wins in a row. Moving into second was Ann Hayden, as she held on to score her best finish of the season. Brandon Slayer finished third with Neri falling down the official finishing order after two penalties. Kotyk scored the win in the Pre-Final, with second going to Neri and finishing third was Hayden. In qualifying, Neri had a quick time of 51.841-second.

Yamaha Junior: Pole sitter Ashley Rogero had a perfect day going, setting fast time in qualifying and picking up the Pre-Final win. Once the green dropped, Rogero and Derek Sobel would break away from the field and would go nose to tail lap after lap. In lap six, Sobel would get the lead away from Rogero until the final lap when Rogero would get around Sobel and that’s how it would end up. Rogero scored her third straight win, Sobel picked up second and third was Austin Jordan. In the Pre-Final, Rogero took the win, second went to Sobel, and third was Eddie Rodriguez. Picking up fast time in qualifying was Rogero with a time of 54.193-second.

Cadet Sportsman: Thirteen karts took the green flag with Vincenzo Sarracino starting on the pole. Sarracino looked very strong early with Seve DePinto staying right with him, running nose to tail, until lap two as Sarracino would slide off the track at turn seven, giving the lead to DePinto. Able to hold on to the lead, DePinto scored his second win of the season. Finishing second was Mayo Livingston, coming from his eighth place starting position to earn his best finish of the season. Third went to Jason Yarbrough. The Pre-Final winner was Sarracino, second was DePinto and with Justin Gordon third. In qualifying, Sarracino set fast time with a lap of 58.333-second.

ICC Shifters: In the Final, Brad Sanders started on the pole and proved to be too strong for the field. He would go wire-to-wire and score his first win of the season. Point leader Chris Grektorp was second ending up third was Denver Liabenow, locking up his best finish of the season. Pre-Final win went to Sanders, taking second was Farshad Bagheri and third going to Morgan Pagano. In qualifying, Sanders took fast time with a time of 54.035-second.

Stock Moto Shifters: In the sixteen lap final, Nick Neri started on the pole. Neri would get off the line for a good, and would stay up front the entire race going wire-to-wire for his second win this season. He outran second place finisher Richard Cormier by well over nineteen seconds as third went to Chris Bany. Pre-Final winner was Neri, with Kurt Mathewson taking second and third going to Cormier. Picking up fast time in qualifying, it was Neri with a time of 50.866-second.

Masters Shifters: Point leader Chad Waldren would pick up his second win of the season. In the Pre-Final, Ron Hayer took the win over Waldron and third was Tom Boddy. In qualifying, Chad Waldron set fast time with a lap of 52.433-second.

TaG Heavy: Thirteen karts took the green flag with Louis Satterlee on the pole. Saterlee would have his hands full and had a good battle with John Dalton and James Perkins. The racing was very exciting for the entire race. Satterlee was able to lead for the entire race and earned his first win. The fight was for second and holding on for that spot was Perkins, making his first start of the season. John Dalton settled for third. Satterlee took the win in the Pre-Final over Perkins and Matt Blair. In qualifying, Perkins took fast time with a 51.414-second.

Yamaha Sportsman: In the fourteen lap final, it was point leader Jason Yarbrough starting on the pole. Yarbrough and Mathias Ramirez would be the class of the field as they would check out early and run nose to tail. Yarbrough stayed out in front of Ramirez the entire race and scored his second win of the season. Ramirez finished second and third was Dylan Gennaro, getting his best finish of the season. The Pre-Final win went to Yarbrough, second was Ramirez and Justin Gordon in third. In qualifying, Ramirez took fast time with a 54.131-second.

Next up will be Round #5 at the Orlando Kart Center in Orlando, Florida, the weekend of June 23-24. FKCS continues to be one of the longest and oldest running regional karting series in the country.
