| Texas ProKart Challenge Introduces ‘Ready to ROK’ TaG Cadet Program |
| Article by: texasprokartchallenge.com |
Regional karting in the state of Texas is entering a new era for the 2012 season and the new Texas ProKart Challenge (TPKC) is putting together the final pieces to kick off the year in a few weeks. The first two rounds of the six-round championship are set for the Gulf Coast Kartways in Katy, Texas on May 4-6 and a full line-up of Superkarts! USA-sanctioned categories and United States Rotax Max Challenge divisions will be offered for 2012. Providing the most cost-efficient regional racing series in the area, the TPKC is introducing a special program for Cadet level racers that will given them the chance to race in the growing TaG Cadet category, thanks to the SKUSA ‘Ready to ROK’ program.
The SKUSA ‘Ready to ROK’ TaG Cadet engine lease program will provide six engines to registered racers of the series. As the powerplant for the initial rung of the SKUSA TaG racing ladder system, the Vortex Mini Rok 60 engine is the spec motor for the TaG Cadet class. Those racers who do not already own one of these engines, but wish to race in the class as part of the TPKC, can be part of the engine lease program from SKUSA. Each racer will only be required to purchase a SKUSA ‘Ready to ROK’ accessory package ($299) for the engine, which will include all the necessary components required to make the racer’s kart track-ready and technically compliant. Once the competitor arrives at the race venue, they simply pick up the motor, mount it directly to their kart, plug it in and hit the track. Interested parties are asked to pre-register to reserve their engine, and ‘Series Loyalty Program’ members will receive priority standing in becoming part of the SKUSA ‘Ready to ROK’ program.
“This SKUSA ‘Ready to ROK’ program is a great way to introduce Cadet racers and their parents to the TaG Cadet category, without the burden of buying a complete engine package,” stated Texas ProKart Challenge Director Dave Pauly. “We saw a number of racers from Texas in the class at the SuperNationals last year, and we expect them all to be part of the series in 2012. It’s very similar to our Rotax Mini Max and Rotax Micro Max categories, and with the ‘Ready to ROK’ and our ‘Series Loyalty Program’, the cost will be minimal to compete in both classes.”
One of the focuses for the new Texas ProKart Challenge will be on customer service. The TPKC is looking to provide more track time at less cost then most regional programs. Each weekend will consist of Friday practice, providing competitors with a full day to tune-up for the racing action. Each race day - Saturday and Sunday - will count as one round, and will provide optimal track time, including a warm-up session, a seven-minute qualifying stint, two 10-lap heat races, and a 15-lap main event (Cadet and Local Option categories will have reduced laps). At just $80 per race entry (includes driver pass), competitors will have less than $500 in entry fees for the entire series. In fact, the ‘Series Loyalty Program’ will give racers one free entry if they pre-register for all six rounds by April 29, reducing the price of entry fees for each race to only $66 (not including fuel, oil, and tire purchases). As an added bonus, for those drivers racing more than one class, their second class will be just $50 for the entry. Complimenting the entry program, the TPKC will give those racers who compete in the Saturday rounds the option to race with the same set of tires or utilize a new set for the Sunday round. Pauly continued, “Our ‘Series Loyalty Program’ is in place to ensure that our racers get the best for their hard-earned money. Those racing in the SKUSA categories for the championship and guaranteed starting spot on SuperSunday for the SuperNationals can benefit, along with all our BK RMax Challenge racers, who earn their punches for the Rotax Grand Nationals and Pan American Challenge. We understand racing can be expensive at times, so we want to ensure that all club racers from our three tracks and across the area feel welcome to race with us without putting a big dent in their wallets. I hope to see many old and new faces in Katy the first weekend in May.”
Heading into the series debut, the Texas ProKart Challenge program has signed a number of series partners for the season. Adding their names to the list of class sponsors thus far are GulfStar Group Investment Bankers, J&T Racing, LCG Discovery Experts, Margison Graphics, Miller & Brown LLP, and Rollo Insurance. 3G Kart Racing, Burger King, and Fernelius Alvarez Attorneys have committed to be series title sponsors for 2012.
