Industry News: Comet Kart Sales Launch New ‘Eagle’ Chassis

The new Comet Eagle chassis from Comet Kart Sales
The new Comet Eagle chassis from Comet Kart Sales

The two biggest topics in karting right now are the economy and the cost of karting. The origin of the Eagle chassis, available through Comet Kart Sales, began with a need for an affordable but competitive sprint kart that the average entry level karter or karting hobbyist can afford. Unfortunately, there is usually a compromise between a quality chassis and an affordable chassis. With the Eagle kart, Comet Kart Sales wanted to change that.

"It's our hope that bringing down the initial cost of karting, while also supplying a quality kart, we can bring more people into the sport and continue to grow karting even if the economy is not what we all would like", explained Mark Dismore Sr. of Comet Kart Sales.

Since the most important part of any kart is the frame, Comet has made no compromise in its material quality and construction. You can always upgrade bolt on components, but short of a tube bender, blow torch and a welder, you can't change the frame. In a move that they believe is a first for a US karting manufacturer, Comet has imported 30mm and 32mm tubing directly from the same mills in Europe that the top karting manufacturers in Europe also use. You can buy off the shelf tubing in the USA, but the very same properties that make the tubing great for mechanical uses in the USA makes it a poor choice for a competitive racing chassis. The tubing is bought in bulk, ocean freighted to the USA, where it is cut, bent, coped and TIG welded in Indianapolis. The karts are then powder coated locally before they are assembled in house at Comet Kart Sales.

Components are sourced from US suppliers and machine shops as well as select European part suppliers. The Eagle has an extensive list of upgradeable components including axle diameter, seat, steering wheel, hubs, bodywork and wheels. The kart comes standard with 1 1/4" axle assembly, KG CIK Bodywork, Douglas spun aluminum wheels, KG round suede steering wheel, MCP Brakes with oversized flat brake disk, angled steering hub, 10mm kingpin bolt with adjustable offset pill, 17mm Spindles, KG 8.5 or 3.5 liter fuel tank and unique aluminum brake and throttle pedals. The base price Eagle starts at $2450.00, tires sold separately.
