United States Rotax Max Challenge: 2011 National Point Standings - Senior Max

In cooperation with the United States Rotax Max Challenge and the MAXSpeed Group, eKartingNews.com is proud to present the USRMC National Point Standings for all seven Rotax categories for the 2011 season. Over the next few weeks, we will examine one class at a time to highlight the top-10 who was able to achieve the most points during the season.

The USRMC National Point Standings ranks drivers from all the local and regional Rotax Max Challenge Series across the country using a weighted point system that increases based on event participation. The purpose of the USRMC National Point Standings is to highlight those drivers who excel on the season as a whole, not including the USRMC Grand Nationals. Drivers who are properly licensed USRMC drivers are including in the standings for all seven categories, each counting their best six (6) results on the year toward the final standings.

Senior Max
The top level in United States Rotax Max Challenge racing is the Senior division. Over the course of 2011, 163 licensed USRMC drivers competed in the class - the largest division of the year. A number of drivers excelled at their local program, but one stood out from the rest earning the most points on the year - Southern California’s Jeremy Kane. Eight different USRMC series are represented in the top-10 with Utah and the Northwest having double representation.

Never letting that hold him back, Derek overcame adversity and fought against the mainstream notion that go-karting is for kids. He has come a long way in a few short years in a sport dominated by gifted athletes, professional tuners, and vastly more intelligent racers. In 2012, Derek will team up with race tracks and organizers in attempt to make karting more inclusive in the United States. With an aim to make karting more attractive to everyone, Derek looks to promote karting to underrepresented groups such as minorities, females, and older people.
