Team News: Phil Giebler Racing Adds Carter Williams

Multi-championship winning driver Carter Williams has joined Phil Giebler Racing for the remainder of the 2012 season. The 13-year-old from Clovis, Calif., will make his debut with the team in the TaG Junior class in the Superkarts! USA California ProKart Challenge at the Willow Springs Kart Track in Rosamond, Calif., on March 23-24.

Williams won the SKUSA ProKart Challenge South TaG Junior championship last year. He also was California state champion in Junior 1 for three straight years, 2007-09, and Kid Kart champion in 2005.

“Carter will be a great addition to the team and will be a front runner in the Junior category,” team owner Phil Giebler said. “I think his ability and our team is going to be an outstanding combination. We’re hoping he can win a couple of championships and has the major goal of winning the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas in November.”

Williams will also attempt to win national championships in SKUSA Junior Stock Moto (S5) and in IKF in Junior Sportsman and Junior KPV.

“We had many reasons to join Phil’s team,” Ty Williams, Carter’s father, said. “We want to run with the top Tony Kart team and we have that with Phil. Carter wants to move into formula car racing in the next couple of years and we think Phil’s driving experience and success will prepare and help guide him into it. We also liked the quality of teammates Carter will have.”

Phil Giebler Racing exclusively races (and sells) Tony Karts and Fernando Alonso Karts, a Tony Kart brand.

Williams finished second in the TaG Junior feature in the season-opening SKUSA California ProKart Challenge at Buttonwillow, Calif., on Feb. 11. He was second and third in the two heats and goes into the Willow Springs event second in points, trailing Curtis Paul 310-275.

Williams’ sponsors are Phil Giebler Racing, Sanner Racing Engines, Bell Racing, PKS Kart Supplies, Graphix Plus, OMNILife Science, Packaging Solution and Williams Fence Company.

Owned by the 2007 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, Phil Giebler Racing is based in Orange, Calif., and competes nationally at the highest level of karting in the United States. Giebler is a resident of Huntington Beach, Calif. For more information, go to http://www.philgieblerracing.com
