Event News: Florida Karting Championship Series Set to Kick-Off 2012 Season

This coming weekend marks the start of the 2012 Florida Karting Championship Series with racers convening at Homestead Karting in sunny south Florida. Another season for one of the most popular and well attended WKA divisional series in the United States will kick off with drivers from across Florida, southeast area, and as far away as Venezuela challenging each other as they take on the Homestead circuit. Pre-registrations have set a new record with more than 200 entries and 130 drivers all vying for the podium.

Several changes for FKCS Live will be implemented providing on-line viewers with multiple camera angles to bring them closer to the racing action. With Tony Modica, the 'golden voice' of FKCS calling the action, and live blogging throughout both race days, be prepared for a great interactive experience while cheering on your favorite drivers! You can find the link to the live page at http://www.flwkasprintseries.com . With all the classes filling up fast and what looks like a renewed interest in the shifters classes we expect some great battles playing out in this first race of the season.

"We are really excited for the start of the season and expect nothing short of spectacular racing for all our competitors," stated Todd Kovi, president of FKCS. "Additionally, the board has worked very hard over the off season to fine tune some rules, focus on implementing changes to improve the overall event execution, and provide our racers and their families with an experience they have come to expect from the series."

Once again, Ocala Grand Prix headlines as the series sponsor bringing not only their support, but a stable of highly talented drivers to the six tracks on the schedule this year. "OGP and Jorge Arellano have been an integral part of our success over the last 5 years which has really helped not only FKCS but also raise the bar for karting throughout the state," said Kovi. "We thank them for another year of participation and support for our racers."

AAA Sod & Supply along with MG Tires have both stepped up this year to support multiple classes each. The Florida Karting Championship Series also wants to recognize new sponsors Best Transmission, Brad's Heating & Cooling, Burris Racing, Grand Products, Keane Racing, Keel & Curley Winery, Parazinho Chassis, and Southern Karting Specialists. FKCS welcomes back returning class sponsors Andersen RacePark, Devine Design, DPI Racing, Harvest Motorsports, Homestead Karting, Kart Parts Depot, K2 Trophies and Awards, North Florida Kart Club, Orlando Kart Center, Rysa Racing, Pole Tech Speed, TS Racing, and Vortex Racing Engines.
